The son of David reigned over all the people for 40 years, he also; and he did evil. And in his time there were the prophets Nathan and Gad. Rehoboam his son reigned for 17 years; and he did evil. In his time the kingdom was divided, and two tribes remained with him in Jerusalem, Judah and Benjamin; but in Samaria, ten tribes. In his time there were the prophets Ahijah the Shilonite, and Shemaiah, and Iddo. Abijah his son, for three years. And his heart was not perfect, like David's, but he walked in the sins of his father. And in his time there was Iddo the prophet. Asa his son, for 41 years; and he did what was right; but the high places still existed. In his time there were the prophets Azariah son of Oded, and Hanani. Jehoshaphat his son, for 25 years; and he did what was right; but the high places still existed. And after these things he received a charge of lawlessness, because he made friends with Ahaziah king of Israel, and he partnered with him in a business of ships. In his time there were the prophets Elijah, Elisha, Micaiah, and Jehu son of Hanani, and Jahaziel son of Zechariah, and Eliezer son of Dodavah of Mareshah. Joram his son, for 8 years; and he did evil. For he had a wife, the daughter of Ahab. And in his time there were Elijah and Elisha. Ahaziah his son, for 1 year; and he did evil. After him Athaliah his mother, for seven years. Joash son of Ahaziah, for 40 years. He killed Zechariah, and he did what was right as long as Jehoiada the wise lived, and enlightened him. His servants killed him in 28.324 house of Millo. In his time Azariah [Zechariah] son of Jehoiada prophesied. Amaziah his son, for 29 years; and he did what was right in the beginning, but not like David; for the people still sacrificed in the high places, and he did not remove the groves. And in his time prophets prophesied; but their names were not written. After these things, however, Amaziah, having struck those in Seir, was lifted up, and he served the idols of Seir, and he was struck, having been delivered to his enemies. Azariah, who is Uzziah, for 52 years; and he did what was right in the beginning, as his father did; except he did not remove the high places. But prospering, he was lifted up, and wished to burn incense for himself in the temple, which is permitted to the priests alone. Therefore he was struck with leprosy, having heard: "It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated." In his time Isaiah prophesied. Jotham his son, for 10 years; and he did what was right, like his father; except he did not remove the high places. And in his time there was Isaiah. Ahaz, his son, for 10 years; and he did evil. And in his time there were Isaiah and Oded the prophets. Hezekiah his son, for 29 years; and he did what was right, like David, perfectly. He tore down the bronze serpent, which Moses had set up. And in his time there was Isaiah. In his time Sennacherib and Rabshakeh, the Assyrians, blaspheming, were themselves struck after these things, and in one night 185,000. An angel, going out, destroyed them. And Hezekiah, falling sick, and being about to die, received an addition of 15 years. Manasseh his son, for 55 years; and he did evil. For what things Hezekiah had torn down, this man built up; and he became another Jeroboam for Judah, so that because of him Jerusalem suffered, as did Samaria. For indeed concerning him it was said: "Who made Judah sin;" therefore he was also led away captive to Babylon. But in captivity, as it is written in the Chronicles, God brought him back to Jerusalem after he repented, and again he took hold of the kingdom; and repenting and teaching the people to serve God, he died. He was not buried in the city of David, but in his garden, in the garden of Uzza. Amon his son reigned for 2 years; and he did evil, like his father Manasseh; and his servants killed him, and he was buried in the garden of Uzza, where his father also was.
