at the affliction that befell him, three of his friends came to console him, Eliphaz the king of the Temanites, Bildad the tyrant of the Shuhites, Zophar the king of the Minaeans. And they spoke to him contentiously and mercilessly, leaping against him; so that sin was also reckoned to them from this. But Job prayed to God for them, and they were forgiven. There are, therefore, nine dialogues of Job with his friends; three of Eliphaz to him, two of Zophar to him, and three of Bildad. And there is also one of Elihu son of Barachel, the Buzite. And finally the Lord speaks to Job through a whirlwind and clouds. And Job answers the Lord with words a second time. Book 18, The 12 prophets. Hosea, 1. Indeed, there have been prophets before this one; in the time of David, Samuel, and Nathan, and Gad; and in the time of Rehoboam and Abijah and Asa, Ahijah the Shilonite, and Shemaiah, and Iddo, and Azariah, and Hanani; and in the time of Jehoshaphat and Ahab, Elijah and Elisha, and the one who prophesied to Ahab concerning Syria and who struck himself with a wound, and reproved Ahab, and Jehu the son of Hanani, and Jahaziel and Eliezer. But their own writings are not extant, except only their words in the Books of Kings and the Books of Chronicles. But among those who wrote, whose writings are also extant, these were the first, 28.360 Hosea, and Isaiah. For during the reigns of the same kings of Judah, Uzziah, and Jotham, and Ahaz and Hezekiah king of Judah; and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel, they prophesied. And a word came to Hosea, and he prophesies to the priests, and against Israel, and against the house of the king, and concerning the destruction of Samaria. And having reproved and shut them up in disobedience, he signifies the Church from the Gentiles, through the harlot wife he himself took, whom, having taken, he made chaste, leading her to himself. He also prophesies concerning the coming of the Savior. Amos, 2. And this one was a contemporary at the beginning with Hosea and Isaiah; for in the reign of Uzziah king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel, it happened two years before the earthquake. And he saw words, and he prophesies against Jerusalem, and against Israel of Samaria, and against the nations of Damascus, Gaza, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Ekron, Tyre, Edom, Teman, the sons of Ammon and Moab. And this one reproves and shuts up all in disobedience. But also when Amaziah the priest of Bethel slandered him to king Jeroboam, as speaking against him and against Samaria, and against the people, he nonetheless did not cease speaking boldly, and speaking the oracles, and concerning the coming of the Savior. Micah, 3. This one was second of the aforementioned; because he prophesied after Uzziah; but he was contemporary with them, since he himself also began to prophesy in the time of Jotham, and Ahaz, and Hezekiah. And the word of the Lord came to him, and he prophesies against Jerusalem, and Samaria, and against the prophets who lead the people astray, and against Ahab. And he also foretells the coming of the Savior, saying: “In the last days the mountain of the Lord shall be manifest.” Joel the son of Pethuel, 4. The word of the Lord came to this one, and he prophesies to the elders and to all who inhabit the land concerning the capture of the land and of those in it. He also prophesies concerning the grace of the Holy Spirit, and of that which would come to all from the Savior. And he preaches also concerning fasting and repentance, and concerning the coming of the Savior, and of the signs that happened at the cross. Obadiah, 5. A vision
