Life flourished again with all good things, and double wealth from every side flowed into his house, 31.564 so that he might have it as if he had lost nothing, and that it might be a reward for the just man's endurance. But why did he receive horses, and mules, and camels, and sheep, and farms, and all the luxury of his property twofold, while the number of children that sprang forth was equal to those who had died? Because the irrational animals, and all the perishable wealth, came to a complete loss; but the children, even though they had died, were alive in the best part of nature. Therefore, having been adorned again with other sons and daughters by the creator, he also had this possession twofold. For some were present, providing joy in life to their parents, while those who had gone before awaited him who had begotten them; then all will stand around Job, when the judge of human life gathers the universal Church; when the trumpet, signifying the coming of the king, sounding more vehemently to the tombs, demands the deposit of the bodies. Then even those who now seem to be dead will stand before the creator of all things more quickly than the living. For this reason, I think, after measuring out to him the other wealth twofold, he deemed it right for him to be content with an equal number of children. Do you see how many good things the righteous Job gathered for himself from his patience? And so you too, if anything difficult has approached you from the fire kindled yesterday by the plot of the demons, endure this, and calm the distress from this suffering with better thoughts; and according to what is written, Cast your care upon the Lord, and he will sustain you. To him belongs glory forever and ever. Amen.
