having received the prizes of the contests, the crown of righteousness. But even in death he did not leave his own bride, he who loved his bride and loved his children, nor indeed his children bereft of his own grace, but by divine Providence and judgment he is fittingly brought to the royal palace, the body to the visible things, the spirit to the unseen; and he remains a herald of the divine oracles, until Christ shall come again, with whom he will be glorified, reveling in His joy and beauty. These are my lispings to you, O Father of Fathers; but may you watch over us who share your name, and may you grant us in return intimacy with the Creator, who is Christ, eternal gladness; to whom be the glory, and the power, always, now, and ever, and unto the endless ages of ages. κομισάμενος τῶν ἄθλων τὰ ἔπαθλα, τῆς δικαιοσύνης τὸν στέφανον. Ἀλλ' οὐκ εἴασε καὶ θανὼν τὴν νύμφην τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ὁ φιλούμενος, φιλόνυμφος, καὶ φιλότεκνος, οὔτε μὴν τοὺς παῖδας τοὺς ἑαυτοῦ τῆς οἰκείας ἐστερημένους χάριτος, ἀλλὰ θείᾳ Προνοίᾳ καὶ κρίσει καταλλήλως πρὸς τὰ βασίλεια φέρεται, τὸ μὲν σῶμα πρὸς τὰ ὁρώμενα, τὸ δὲ πνεῦμα πρὸς τὰ ἀθέατα· καὶ κήρυξ τῶν θείων λογίων διαμένει, μέχρις Χριστὸς αὖθις παραγενήσεται, μεθ' οὗ δοξασθήσεται, τῆς αὐτοῦ κατατρυφῶν χαρᾶς τε καὶ ὡραιότητος. Ταῦτά μοι, ὦ Πάτερ Πατέρων, πρός σε τὰ ψελλίσματα· ἀλλ' ἐποπτεύοις ἡμᾶς τοὺς ὁμωνύμους, καὶ ἀντιδοίης τῆς πρὸς τὸν Κτίστην οἰκείωσιν, ὅς ἐστι Χριστὸς, εὐφροσύνη αἰώνιος· ᾧ ἡ δόξα, καὶ τὸ κράτος, πάντοτε, νῦν, καὶ ἀεὶ, καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀτελευτήτους αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων.
