of him who cast out, and fitted pupils of eyes, missing from the womb, with clay for the blind to see again, and renewed the ancient fashioning of our race, and restored speech to the mute, of him who wiped away the marks of leprosy, and raised the dead from their tombs, of him who spoke to men until his burial, and despoiled Hades by his resurrection, and made all humanity proof against death. I adjure you by God the almighty, who inspired men with his God-breathed voice, and worked with the apostles, and filled the whole world with piety. Be afraid, flee, run away, depart, unclean and unholy demon, chthonic, abyssal, deceitful, formless, visible through shamelessness, invisible through hypocrisy, wherever you may be, or are going; whether you are Beelzebub himself, or a shaker, or dragon-like, or beast-faced, or like a vapor, or like a bird, or chattering by night, or deaf, or mute, or terrifying by assault, or convulsing, or plotting, or in deep sleep, or in sickness, or in weakness, or roaming in laughter, or causing pleasure-loving tears, or lecherous, or foul-smelling, or lustful, or pleasure-seeking, or poison-loving, or love-crazed, or astrological-magical, or house-dwelling, or shameless, or contentious, or restless, or changing with the moon, or turning with some season, or of the morning, or of noonday, or of midnight, or of some untimely hour, or of dawn, or you met him by chance, or were sent by someone, or you approached suddenly, either in the sea, or in a river, or under the earth, or of a well, or of a cliff, or from a pit, of a lake, or of a reed-bed, or of a wood, or of a land, or of an unclean place, or of a grove, or of an oak-wood, or of a tree, or of a bird, or of thunder, or from the roof of a bath, or in a pool of water, or from an idolatrous tomb, or from where we know, and know not, known, or unknown, and from an unconsidered place; be divided and depart, be ashamed of the image fashioned and formed by the hand of God. Fear the likeness of the incarnate God, and do not hide in this servant of God, but an iron rod and a furnace of fire, and Tartarus, and the gnashing of teeth, the penalty for disobedience awaits you.
Be afraid, be muzzled, flee, do not turn back, do not hide with other wickedness of unclean spirits; but go away into a waterless land, desert, uncultivated, which man does not inhabit, God alone watches over, who binds all who bewitch and plot against his image, and casts into Tartarus with chains of darkness for a long night and day, you who are experienced in all evils, and inventor devil. For great is the fear of God, and great is the glory of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen. {1 Another prayer of the same.}1 O God of the heavens, O God of lights, O God of the angels who are under your strength, O God of the archangels who are under your dominion, O God of the 31.1684 glorious dominions, O God of the saints, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who freed the souls bound by death, who enlightened the man fixed to darkness through your only-begotten Son, who loosed our pains, and scattered every burden, who separated every attack of the enemy from us, O Son and Word of God, who immortalized us by your death, and glorified us with your glory, who by your resurrection granted that men proceed to God, who bore every bond of our sins through your cross, who took up our brokenness, and healed it, O Lord, who made a way for us to the heavens, and transformed corruption into incorruption; hear me crying out to you with longing and fear, before whom the mountains melt in fear with the firmament under heaven, by whose power the mute souls of the elements shudder to keep their own bounds, through whom the fire of vengeance will not overstep the bounds assigned to it,
