Catholic Library Home

The Catholic Library Project is the fruit of efforts going back at least a decade. Long before texts that are now common became available, we have been digitizing texts and creating structured content to allow for the precise searching necessary in larger theological works. We have scanned hundreds of thousands of pages of texts, and worked on the optical character recognition allowing for the type of search you find on this site over seven hundred thousand pages of text.

Although many years later, many or most of these texts are now available through google books and other online sources, the general presentation or simple "dumping" of texts online does not allow for the intelligent interaction required when we desire to go beyond simple curiosity. For those of us who are serious about our studies, the tools and presentation on CatholicLibrary.org should prove invaluable – and we they hope will contribute to the new age of scholarship that is just beginning with the advent of the digital humanities.
