putting on wool, and slaughtering or selling the fatter ones, and leaving the rest to the wild beasts and the cliffs, shepherding myself, not the sheep, a thing for which the former rulers of Israel were reproached. Teach me these things, and support me with these words, and with these precepts shepherd and shepherd with me, and save, just as with teaching, so also with prayers, both me and this sacred flock, for my safety, for your boast in the day of the appearing and revelation of the great God, and our chief shepherd Jesus Christ, through whom and with whom be the glory to the Father almighty with the holy and life-giving Spirit both now and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

ἔρια περιβαλλόμενος, καὶ τὰ παχύτερα κατασφάζων ἢ ἀπεμπολῶν, καὶ τὰ ἄλλα παρεὶς τοῖς θηρίοις καὶ τοῖς κρημνοῖς, ποιμαίνων ἐμαυτὸν, οὐ τὰ πρόβατα, ὅπερ ὠνειδίζοντο οἱ πάλαι προεστῶτες τοῦ Ἰσραήλ. Ταῦτα διδάσκοιτέ με, καὶ τούτοις στηρίζοιτε τοῖς λόγοις, καὶ μετὰ τούτων ποιμαίνοιτε καὶ συμποιμαίνοιτε τῶν παραγγελμάτων, καὶ σώζοιτε, ὥσπερ τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ, οὕτω καὶ ταῖς εὐχαῖς, ἐμέ τε καὶ τὸ ἱερὸν τοῦτο ποίμνιον, εἰς ἀσφάλειαν ἐμοὶ, εἰς καύχημα ὑμῖν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἐπιφανείας καὶ ἀποκαλύψεως τοῦ μεγάλου Θεοῦ, καὶ ἀρχιποιμένος ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, δι' οὗ καὶ μεθ' οὗ ἡ δόξα Πατρὶ παντοκράτορι σὺν τῷ ἁγίῳ καὶ ζωοποιῷ Πνεύματι καὶ νῦν καὶ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων.
