And yet you should have, having invited us to a meal, been the first to meet and embrace me and to show kindness in all things; but you did not do this, «but she, from the time I entered your house, has not ceased kissing my feet». Behold her insatiable longing and correct your reproachful manner; look at her and learn from her weeping, so that you too may love her whom you hated without cause. «You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment, for which reason, I tell you, her many sins are forgiven». Therefore, brethren, let us too emulate this faithful and wondrous prostitute, and since we still have a time for repentance in 153 these few days of the fast, let us hasten through a pure life and an excellent conduct, through fasting, through almsgiving, through tears, through confession to wash away all the mire and stain of our many sins, so that we too may hear the gracious voice of the philanthropic Master, saying to us: Your sins are forgiven; so that we may also become heirs of the heavenly kingdom, and be deemed worthy of the blessed voice, which says: Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you-which may it befall all of us to attain by the grace and loving-kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ, with whom to the Father together with the Holy Spirit be glory, dominion, honor, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages, amen.

καίτοι δίκαιος ἦσθα, καλέσας ἡμᾶς εἰς ἄριστον, πρῶτος ὑπαντῆσαι καὶ περιπτύξασθαί με καὶ τὰ τῆς φιλοφροσύνης ἐν πᾶσιν ἐπιδείξασθαι· ἀλλὰ σὺ μὲν τοῦτο οὐκ ἐποίησας, «αὕτη δὲ, ἀφ' οὗ εἰςῆλθον εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου, οὐ διέλειπεν καταφιλοῦσά μου τοὺς πόδας». Βλέπε ταύτης τὸν ἀκόρεστον πόθον καὶ κόλασόν σου τὸν φιλολοίδορον τρόπον· βλέψον εἰς αὐτὴν καὶ κατάμαθε κλαίουσαν, εἰ μὴ καὶ σὺ ἀγαπήσῃς, ἣν ἀκαίρως ἐμίσησας. «Ἐλαίῳ τὴν κεφαλήν μου οὐκ ἤλειψας, αὕτη δὲ μύρῳ ἤλειψέν μου τοὺς πόδας, οὗ χάριν, λέγω σοι, ἀφέωνται αὐτῆς αἱ ἁμαρτίαι αἱ πολλαί». Ταύτην οὖν καὶ ἡμεῖς, ἀδελφοὶ, ζηλώσωμεν τὴν πιστὴν καὶ θαυμασίαν πόρνην, καὶ ὡς ἔτι καιρὸν ἔχομεν μετανοίας ἐν 153 ταῖς ὀλίγαις ταύταις ἡμέραις τῆς νηστείας, σπουδάσωμεν διὰ βίου καθαροῦ καὶ πολιτείας ἀρίστης, διὰ νηστείας, δι' ἐλεημοσύνης, διὰ δακρύων, δι' ἐξομολογήσεως κατᾶραι πάντα βόρβορον καὶ κηλῖδα τῶν πολλῶν ἡμῶν ἁμαρτιῶν, ἵνα καὶ τῆς προςηνοῦς φωνῆς ἀκούσωμεν τοῦ φιλανθρώπου δεσπότου, λέγοντος πρὸς ἡμᾶς· ἀφέωνται ὑμῶν αἱ ἁμαρτίαι· ὅπως καὶ τῆς ἐπουρανίου βασιλείας κληρονόμοι γενώμεθα, καὶ τῆς μακαρίας φωνῆς ἀξιωθῶμεν, τῆς λεγούσης· δεῦτε, οἱ εὐλογημένοι τοῦ πατρός μου, κληρονομήσατε τὴν ἡτοιμασμένην ὑμῖν βασιλείαν-ἧς γένοιτο πάντας ἡμᾶς ἐπιτυχεῖν χάριτι καὶ φιλανθρωπίᾳ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, μεθ' οὗ τῷ πατρὶ ἅμα τῷ ἁγίῳ πνεύματι δόξα, κράτος, τιμὴ, νῦν καὶ ἀεὶ, καὶ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων, ἀμήν.
