do not turn aside. For He does not strike you to kill, but to turn you back from error. Distribute without distinction the flower that blossomed from the rod of Jesse, give to drink the immortal spring gushing forth from the steep rock, so that from there into the fold of delight do not gather wealth, or rather, do not love wealth; flee the care of money, do not hold fast to decrees; do not gather money, through which crimes grow, but sow food generously to the poor, hoping to reap the soul’s abundant and ripe sheaf. O poor man, do not be fainthearted, do not renounce life, do not blaspheme, but give thanks, endure the short-lived web of poverty, look upon your example, Lazarus, and be strengthened in hope; for you yourself will also attain the Abrahamic bosoms of rest; where may God, the Lord of all, deem us also worthy, in Christ Jesus our Lord, to whom be glory and power with the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
