and there they will cut each other down, so that the well becomes full from the blood of the Romans and the Ishmaelites. And the Lord God will deliver Ishmael into the hands of the king and after this he will send to their lands and will build ships and will ensnare them. and he will send his other messengers to the inner parts of Rome and will tame the blond nations, and together they will pursue Ishmael. and then the prophecy will be fulfilled which says that a dog and a cub will pursue a wild beast. And as the king 37 departs in Rome, he will enter a place called Lombardy, and the people of that place will oppose him, and having summoned them he will enter into Rome, and having come to a certain place where a treasure was locked away, he strikes with his whip on the animal figure, where the treasure is locked up. But by the command of God they will be opened, and from it he will make payments to his people. and he will go out from Rome with a great host and will go by land to the seven-hilled city and there will be no one to oppose him, because the Lord God was with him. and the fear of him will be heard in every city and country and he who is in the two hundredth chapter of the thirtieth chapter, having heard, will flee from the seven-hilled city to the inner part of the east and will perish miserably.

Then a young man will arise from the tribe of Dan according to the prophecy of Jacob the patriarch, which says: a serpent sitting by the path, biting the heel of a horse, and the rider will fall backward, awaiting the salvation of the Lord. The rider is the truth and the piety of the orthodox Christians, and the (heel) is the last day. And these holy ones in that time will be bitten by the serpent, that is, the son of perdition, into his fantasies and into his false prophecies; for he will perform signs and wonders upon the earth, ineffectual sic and fleeting. the blind will see again and the lame will walk, the deaf will hear and the demon-possessed will be healed, he will turn the sun to darkness and the moon to blood and by these his signs and fantastical wonders, he will mislead and deceive, if possible, even the elect, as it is written. For the son of perdition will enter Jerusalem and will sit in the temple of the Lord as if God, being a man of flesh, from the seed of a man and from the womb of a woman, being from the tribe of Dan. For Judas Iscariot, who betrayed (scil. the Lord), was also himself from the tribe of Dan. For as the affliction of those days from the 38 son of perdition increases, the divinity does not bear to see the destruction of the race of men whom the son and word of God redeemed with his own blood, but he sends quickly his own servants, both Enoch and Elijah, for the refutation of this adversary before all nations. saying that this is the deceiver, the adversary, the abomination of desolation. The nations therefore, seeing him being refuted by the servants Enoch and Elijah, will flee from him and will follow the saints. The enemy therefore, seeing himself being terribly refuted by them and being despised by all, will kill the saints in wrath and anger.

Then the sign of the son of man will appear with heavenly glory, and the Lord will slay him with the spirit of his mouth, according to the voice of the apostle. Then the righteous will shine like luminaries in the world, holding forth the word of life, but the impious will be driven out and turned away into hades, from which may we be delivered by the grace and loving-kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of ages, amen.

κἀκεῖ συγκόψονται ἀλλήλους ὥστε ἐκ τῶν αἱμάτων τῶν Ῥωμαίων καὶ τῶν Ἰσμαηλιτῶν μεστὸν γενέσθαι τὸ φρέαρ. Καὶ παραδώσει Κύριος ὁ θεὸς τὸν Ἰσμαὴλ εἰς χεῖρας τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἀποστελεῖ εἰς τὰς χώρας αὐτῶν καὶ ποιήσει κατασκευὴν πλοίων καὶ ὀρνεύσει αὐτά. καὶ ἄλλους ἀγγέλους αὐτοῦ ἀποστελεῖ εἰς τὰ ἐνδότερα μέρη τῆς Ῥώμης καὶ ἡμερώσει τὰ ξανθὰ ἔθνη καὶ ὁμοῦ διώξουσιν τὸν Ἰσμαήλ. καὶ τότε πληρωθήσεται ἡ προφητεία ἡ λέγουσα ὅτι κύων καὶ σκύμνος διώξουσιν ἀγρόν. Καὶ ἀπερχομένου 37 τοῦ βασιλέως ἐν τῇ Ῥώμῃ εἰσέλθει εἰς τόπον λεγόμενον Λωγγιβαρδίας, καὶ ἀντιτάξονται αὐτὸν οἱ τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου, καὶ τούτους παρακαλέσας εἰσέλθει ἐν τῇ Ῥώμῃ, καὶ ἐλθὼν ἐν τόπῳ τινὶ οὗ ἦν κεκλεισμένος θησαυρός, κρούει μετὰ τοῦ φραγγελίου αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ ζόδον, ἔνθα ἐστὶν ὁ θησαυρὸς ἀποκεκλεισμένος. προστάξει δὲ θεοῦ ἀνοιχθήσονται, καὶ ἐξ αὐτοῦ ποιήσει ῥῶγας τῷ λαῷ αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἐξέλθει ἀπὸ Ῥώμης μετὰ πλείστου λαοῦ καὶ ἀπέλθει διὰ τῆς στερεᾶς ἐν τῇ ἑπταλόφῳ πόλει καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ ἀντικείμενος αὐτῷ, ὅτι Κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἦν μετὰ αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἀκουσθήσεται ὁ φόβος αὐτοῦ ἐν πάσῃ πόλει καὶ χώρᾳ καὶ ἀκούσας ὁ εἰς διακοσιοστὸν κεφάλαιον τοῦ τριακοστοῦ κεφαλαίου ἀποδράσει ἀπὸ τῆς πόλεως τῆς ἑπταλόφου εἰς τὸ ἐνδότερον μέρος τῆς ἀνατολῆς καὶ ἀπολεῖται κακῶς.

Εἶτα ἀναστήσεται νεανίας ἐκ φυλῆς τοῦ ∆ὰν κατὰ τὴν προφητείαν τοῦ Ἰακὼβ τοῦ πατριάρχου τὴν λέγουσαν. ὄφις ἐφ' ὁδοῦ ἐκαθήμενος δάκνων πτέρναν ἵππου καὶ πεσεῖται ὁ ἱππεὺς εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω τὴν σωτηρίαν ἀναμένων Κυρίου. Ἱππεύς ἐστιν ἡ ἀλήθεια καὶ ἡ εὐσέβεια τῶν ὀρθοδόξων χριστιανῶν, (πτέρνα) δὲ ἡ ἐσχάτη ἡμέρα. Καὶ οὗτοι ἅγιοι ἐν τῷ χρόνῳ δαχθήσονται ὑπὸ τοῦ ὄφεως ἤτοι τοῦ υἱοῦ τῆς ἀπωλείας εἰς τὰς φαντασίας αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰς τὰς ψευδομαντείας αὐτοῦ· ποιήσει γὰρ σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἀνδρανὴ sic καὶ ἐξίτηλα. τυφλοὶ ἀναβλέψουσιν καὶ χωλοὶ περιπατήσουσιν, κωφοὶ ἀκούσονται καὶ δαιμονιώδαις ἰασθήσονται, μεταστρέψει τὸν ἥλιον εἰς σκότος καὶ τὴν σελήνην εἰς αἷμα καὶ ἐν τούτοις τοῖς αὐτοῦ τοῖς σημείοις καὶ φαντασιώδαις ἐν τέρασιν πλάναις καὶ ἀπατήσει εἰ δυνατὸν καὶ τοὺς ἐκλεκτοὺς καθὼς γέγραπται. Εἰσελεύσεται γὰρ ὁ υἱὸς τῆς ἀπωλείας εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα καὶ καθίσει εἰς τὸν ναὸν Κυρίου ἶσα θεῷ, ἄνθρωπος ὑπάρχων σάρκινος, ἐκ σπέρματος ἀνδρὸς καὶ ἐκ μήτρας γυναικός, ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς τυγχάνων τοῦ ∆άν. Ἰούδας γὰρ ὁ Ἰσκαριώτης ὁ παραδοὺς scil. τὸν Κύριον) καὶ αὐτὸς ἐκ φυλῆς (ἦν) τοῦ ∆άν. Πληθυνομένης γὰρ τῆς θλίψεως τῶν ἡμερῶν ἐκείνων ἀπὸ τοῦ 38 υἱοῦ τῆς ἀπωλείας οὐ φέρει τὸ θεῖον καθωρᾶν τὴν ἀπώλειαν τοῦ γένους τῶν ἀνθρώπων οὓς ἐξηγόρασεν τῷ ἰδίῳ αὐτοῦ αἵματι ὁ υἱὸς καὶ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ, ἀλλὰ ἀποστέλλει ἐν συντόμως τοὺς ἰδίους αὐτοῦ θεράποντας τόν τε Ἐνὼχ καὶ Ἡλίαν εἰς ἔλεγχον αὐτοῦ τοῦ ἀντικειμένου ἐνώπιον πάντων ἐθνῶν. λέγοντες ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ πλάνος ὁ ἀντικείμενος, τὸ δὲ βδέλυγμα τῆς ἐρημώσεως. Ὁρῶντες οὖν αὐτὸν τὰ ἔθνη ὑπὸ τῶν δούλων τοῦ Ἐνὼχ καὶ Ἡλίου ἐλεγχόμενον φεύξονται ἀπ' αὐτοῦ καὶ προσακολουθήσονται τοῖς ἁγίοις. ὁρῶν οὖν ὁ ἐχθρὸς ἑαυτὸν ὑπ' αὐτῶν δεινῶς ἐλεγχόμενον καὶ ὑπὸ πάντων καταφρονούμενον θυμῷ καὶ ὀργῇ ἀνελεῖ τοὺς ἁγίους.

Τότε φανήσεται τὸ σημεῖον τοῦ υἱοῦ τῶν ἀνθρώπων μετὰ δόξης οὐρανίου καὶ ἀνελεῖ αὐτὸν ὁ Κύριος τῷ πνεύματι τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ κατὰ τοῦ ἀποστόλου φωνήν. Τότε λάμψουσιν οἱ δίκαιοι ὡς φωστῆρες ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ λόγον ζωῆς ἐπέχοντες, οἱ δὲ ἀσεβεῖς ἐκδιωχθήσονται καὶ ἀποστραφήσονται εἰς τὸν ἅδην, ἐξ οὗ ῥυσθείημεν χάριτι καὶ φιλανθρωπίᾳ τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, ᾧ ἡ δόξα καὶ τὸ κράτος σὺν τῷ πατρὶ καὶ τῷ ἁγίῳ πνεύματι νῦν καὶ ἀεὶ καὶ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων, ἀμήν.
