Let there be nothing among you that will be able to divide you, but be united with the bishop and with those who preside as a type and a teaching of incorruptibility. Just as therefore the Lord did nothing without the Father, being united with him, neither by himself nor by the apostles, so you too should do nothing without the bishop and the presbyters. Nor try to let anything appear reasonable to you on your own, but together: one prayer, one supplication, one mind, one hope in love, in blameless joy, which is Jesus Christ, than whom nothing is better. All of you, run together as to one temple of God, as to one altar, to one Jesus Christ, who came forth from one Father and is in one and has returned to him. Do not be deceived by strange doctrines nor by old fables which are unprofitable. For if we live according to the law until now, we confess that we have not received grace. For the most divine prophets lived according to Christ Jesus. For this reason they were also persecuted, being inspired by his grace, in order to fully convince the disobedient that there is one God, who manifested himself through Jesus Christ his Son, who is his Word that proceeded from silence, who in all things pleased the one who sent him. If, therefore, those who were brought up in the old order of things have come to a newness of hope, no longer observing the Sabbath, but living according to the Lord's Day, on which also our life has sprung up through him and his death, which some deny, through which mystery we received the power to believe, and for this reason we endure, so that we may be found to be disciples of Jesus Christ our only teacher. How shall we be able to live without him, whom even the prophets, being his disciples in the spirit, awaited as their teacher? And for this reason, he whom they rightly awaited, when he came, raised them from the dead. Let us not, therefore, be insensible to his goodness.

For if he were to imitate us according to what we do, we would no longer exist. For this reason, having become his disciples, let us learn to live according to Christianity. For whoever is called by another name more than this one is not of God.Put aside, therefore, the evil leaven, which has grown old and sour, and be changed into new leaven, which is Jesus Christ. Be salted in him, so that no one among you may be corrupted, since you will be convicted by the smell. It is absurd to speak of Jesus Christ and to Judaize. For Christianity did not believe in Judaism, but Judaism in Christianity, into which every tongue that believed has been gathered to God. But these things, my beloved, I write not because I have known any of you to be this way, but, as one less than you, I wish to guard you beforehand, not to fall into the hooks of vainglory, but to be fully convinced of the birth and the passion and the resurrection which took place in the time of the governorship of Pontius Pilate; things truly and certainly done by Jesus Christ, our hope, from which may it be that none of you turn aside. May I have joy of you in all things, if I am worthy. For though I am in bonds, I am not to be compared to one of you who are at liberty. I know that you are not puffed up, for you have Jesus Christ in yourselves. And all the more, when I praise you, I know that you are ashamed, as it is written, that "the righteous is his own accuser."Be eager, therefore, to be confirmed in the doctrines of the Lord and of the apostles, so that "in all things you do, you may prosper" in flesh and in spirit, in faith and in love, in the Son and the Father and in the Spirit, in the beginning and in the end, with your most worthy bishop and the worthily woven spiritual crown of your presbytery and the deacons according to God. Be subject to the bishop and to one another, as Jesus Christ to the Father according to the flesh, and the apostles to Christ and to the Father and to the Spirit, so that there may be a union both fleshly and spiritual. Knowing that you are full of God, I have briefly exhorted you. Remember me in your prayers, so that I may attain to God, and the church in Syria, from which I am not worthy to be called. For I am in need of your united prayer and love in God, in order to be counted worthy
