If you had, you would give. He wants the intention, he searches the heart and knows; for man looks at the face, and God at the heart. I beseech you, therefore, keep the commandment which I command you; For in this you are my disciples, if you love one another. It is the voice of the Master himself, he himself said to the disciples; and again; You shall love the Lord your God with all your strength, and your neighbor as yourself; on these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. I beseech you, therefore, be philanthropic to one another, hospitable, lovers of the poor; especially let us continually hold fast to love for God, so that we may be able to be counted worthy of eternal life, which may we all happen to attain, by the grace and loving-kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power with the Father and the Holy Spirit, unto the ages of ages. εἶχες, ἐδίδως. Τὴν προαίρεσιν θέλει, τὴν καρδίαν διερευνᾷ καὶ οἶδεν· ἄνθρωπος γὰρ εἰς πρόσωπον, καὶ Θεὸς εἰς καρδίαν. Παρακαλῶ οὖν, φυλάξατε τὴν παραγγελίαν, ἣν παραγγέλλω ὑμῖν· Ἐν γὰρ τούτῳ ἐμοὶ μαθηταί ἐστε, ἐὰν ἀγαπᾶτε ἀλλήλους. Αὐτοῦ τοῦ ∆εσπότου φωνή ἐστιν, αὐτὸς εἶπε τοῖς μαθηταῖς· καὶ πάλιν· Ἀγαπήσεις Κύριον τὸν Θεόν σου ἐξ ὅλης τῆς ἰσχύος σου, καὶ τὸν πλησίον σου ὡς ἑαυτόν· ἐν ταύταις δυσὶν ἐντολαῖς ὅλος ὁ νόμος καὶ οἱ προφῆται. Παρακαλῶ τοίνυν ἔσεσθαι εἰς ἀλλήλους φιλάνθρωποι, φιλόξενοι, φιλόπτωχοι· ἐξαιρέτως τὴν εἰς Θεὸν διηνεκῶς κρατῶμεν, ἵνα δυνηθῶμεν ἀξιωθῆναι τῆς αἰωνίου ζωῆς, ἧς γένοιτο πάντας ἡμᾶς ἐπιτυχεῖν, χάριτι καὶ φιλανθρωπίᾳ τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, ᾧ ἡ δόξα καὶ τὸ κράτος σὺν Πατρὶ καὶ ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι, εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων.
