revealed from what has been said. 16 Behold, the perplexing questions have been clarified for you as was possible for us, both "the monad, having moved into a dyad, stood at the triad" and "there is a time when the one, being at variance with itself, becomes many." For matter, as we have shown, being one and altogether most simple, is at variance with itself by the changes of the forms, but such a one as we have spoken of remains in every way without variance and indivisible, exalted above all unity and division. For it is not one, but above the one and for this reason three, nor does it fall under any division, for it is above division, and for this reason one. For its unity is above unity and its division is above division, which one might also better name the supra-unified and the supra-divided. For from it is every unity and every division, being participated in as from things which can be participated in, and being produced and given substance as from a substance on account of its infinite nature, its generative and substance-making power, its life-giving activity and its intellect-making perfection.

ἐκ τῶν εἰρημένων ἀναφανέν. 16 Ἰδού σοι διασεσάφηται τὰ ἠπορημένα καθὼς ἦν ἡμῖν δυνατόν, τό τε «ἡ μονὰς εἰς δυάδα κινηθεῖσα μέχρι τριάδος ἔστη» καὶ τὸ «ἔστιν ὅτε καὶ τὸ ἓν στασιάζον πρὸς ἑαυτὸ πολλὰ γίνεσθαι». ἡ γὰρ ὕλη ὡς ἀπεδείξαμεν ἓν οὖσα καὶ πάντη ἁπλούστατον στασιάζει πρὸς ἑαυτὴν τοῖς μεταπτώσεσι τῶν εἰδῶν, τὸ δὲ τοιοῦτον ἓν ὁποῖον εἰρήκαμεν ἀστασίαστον πάντη μένει καὶ ἀδιάρρηκτον, ὑπερηρμένον πάσης ἑνώσεως καὶ διαιρέσεως. οὐ γάρ ἐστιν ἕν, ἀλλ' ὑπὲρ τὸ ἓν καὶ διὰ τοῦτο τρία, οὐδὲ διαιρέσει τινὶ ὑποπίπτει, ὑπὲρ διαίρεσιν γάρ, καὶ διὰ τοῦτο ἕν. ὑπὲρ γὰρ ἕνωσιν τούτου ἡ ἕνωσις καὶ ὑπὲρ διαίρεσιν ἡ διαίρεσις, ὃ καὶ κρειττόνως ἄν τις ὀνομάσειε τὸ ὑπερηνωμένον καὶ ὑπερδιῃρημένον. ἐξ αὐτῆς γὰρ πᾶσα ἕνωσις καὶ πᾶσα διαίρεσις, ὡς ἐκ μεθεκτῶν μετεχόμενα, ὡς ἐξ οὐσίας παραγόμενά τε καὶ οὐσιούμενα διὰ τὴν ἄπειρον τούτου φύσιν τὴν γόνιμον καὶ τὴν οὐσιοποιὸν δύναμιν, τήν τε ζωοποιὸν ἐνέργειαν καὶ τὴν νοοποιὸν τελειότητα.
