rejoicing in the memory of the good deed, they make their supplication with greater eagerness. Therefore, so that our prayer may become more powerful in this way, with our mind watchful in our petitions from the memory of our good deeds, let us come to our prayers with almsgiving, and let us remember with accuracy all the things that have been said; and before all other things, keep continually that image, according to which I said the poor stand before the doors of the houses of prayer, fulfilling for the soul the same need that the fountain does for the body. For if we are continually mindful of this, constantly washing our thoughts, we will be able to perform pure prayers, and to draw down much boldness from God, and to attain the kingdom of heaven, by the grace and love for mankind of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom and with whom to the Father be glory, together with the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
