will worship the Father in Jerusalem; but the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. For the Father seeks such to worship him. God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. Have you seen most excellent teaching, have you seen the wisdom of an ingenious Teacher? Woman, believe me when I speak. See how he perfects the faith of the woman; see how he gradually lifts her soul to the heavens, not ashamed of the harlot's garment, but serving the salvation of her soul. Why? Because he came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance; because for the lost sheep, not emptying the Father's bosom, he has come down to us, bowing the heavens and has become a perfect man, remaining what he was. Woman, believe me, that the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. For the Father seeks such to worship him. God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. The worship of God is not confined to a place, but the knowledge of divine grace has spread everywhere; no longer do Jews and Samaritans seize for themselves the symbols of the law. For those who worship God must worship in spirit and in truth.

No longer in the burnt offerings of others, and calves, and rams; no longer circumcision, and the observance of the sabbath; no longer temple, and altar, and scapegoat, and the holy of holies; no longer shadow, and worship, and falsified sabbaths. For your new moons and sabbaths, says God through the prophet, and the great day I do not tolerate; fasting and idleness, and your feasts my soul hates. For those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. All those things have passed away like a shadow; the old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. The grace of things has therefore been changed; I no longer permit those who worship God to be gathered in one place according to the law; for I wish to spread the gifts of salvation throughout the whole world. For their sound has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. The woman says to him: I know that Messiah is coming, who is called Christ; when he comes, he will tell us all things. O harlot philosophizing spiritual things; O harlot who carries the divine Scriptures on her lips. For though her body is stained with the impurity of harlotry, yet her soul has been cleansed by the promise and reading of the divine Scriptures. I know that Messiah is coming. Messiah is interpreted as Anointed. For this reason the woman says, I await the Anointed One, whose flesh will be anointed with divinity. When he comes, he will announce all things to us. O spiritual progress, O harlot woman who knows all things. See how she was lifted up from the things below to the heavens. She calls Messiah the one who is sent, the expected Christ, 59.541 the one coming for the salvation of the whole world, and again a prophet, and again Lord; no longer does she call him a Jew, no longer does she dispute about the gift of water, no longer does she say to him: How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, who am a Samaritan woman? for Jews have no dealings with Samaritans; but what? Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet; and again, touching on doctrines: Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship. See how she seizes the gift of spiritual graces; see how she says everything with scriptural proof. I know that Messiah is coming, who is called Christ; when he comes, he will announce all things to us. Him I seek, him I await, him
