but may have eternal life. The one who believes, not the one who says; There was once when he was not; The one who believes, not the one who doubts.

Why then, abandoning belief, do you attempt to be insolent, having the judge as your enemy? But you, Arius, you fool and madman, believe as you wish; for if you do not wish, wretched one, to recognize what is profitable, talk nonsense against yourself. For you will neither harm the Son, and you will kindle the fire of Gehenna against your own head. But I, being instructed by the Holy Scriptures, praise the Father, who is always Father; I praise the Son, who timelessly shone forth from the paternal substance; I praise the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father, and rests in the Son; I confess Christ, perfect God, and the same one perfect man; I proclaim the heights of his divinity 62.769, and I am not ashamed of the lowliness of his humanity; but with the great and blessed apostle Peter I cry out to him, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God; and to you is due 62.770 glory and honor and worship, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and unto the ages of ages. ἀλλ' ἔχῃ ζωὴν αἰώνιον. Ὁ πιστεύων, οὐχ ὁ λέγων· Ἦν ποτε ὅτε οὐκ ἦν· Ὁ πιστεύων, οὐχ ὁ ἀμφιβάλλων.

Τί οὖν τὸ πιστεύειν ἀφεὶς, ὑβρίζειν ἐπιχειρεῖς, τὸν κριτὴν ἔχων πολέμιον; Ἀλλὰ σὺ μὲν, Ἄρειε, λῆρε καὶ παράφρον, ὡς θέλεις, πίστευε· εἰ μὴ γὰρ θέλεις, ταλαίπωρε, ἐπιγνῶναι τὸ συμφέρον, φλυάρει καθ' ἑαυτοῦ. Οὔτε γὰρ τὸν Υἱὸν ἀδικήσεις, καὶ κατὰ τῆς ἑαυτοῦ κεφαλῆς ἀνάψεις τῆς γεέννης τὸ πῦρ. Ἐγὼ δὲ παιδαγωγούμενος ὑπὸ τῶν ἁγίων Γραφῶν ὑμνῶ τὸν Πατέρα, τὸν ἀεὶ Πατέρα τυγχάνοντα· ὑμνῶ τὸν Υἱὸν, τὸν ἐκ τῆς πατρῴας οὐσίας ἀχρόνως ἐκλάμψαντα· ὑμνῶ τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον, τὸ ἐκ τοῦ Πατρὸς ἐκπορευόμενον, καὶ ἐν Υἱῷ ἀναπαυόμενον· ὁμολογῶ τὸν Χριστὸν, Θεὸν τέλειον, καὶ ἄνθρωπον τέλειον τὸν αὐτόν· κηρύττω τῆς θεότητος αὐτοῦ 62.769 τὰ ὑψηλὰ, καὶ οὐκ ἐπαισχύνομαι τῆς ἀνθρωπότητος αὐτοῦ τὰ ταπεινά· ἀλλὰ μετὰ τοῦ μεγάλου καὶ μακαρίου ἀποστόλου Πέτρου βοῶ πρὸς αὐτὸν, Σὺ εἶ ὁ Χριστὸς, ὁ Υἱὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ τοῦ ζῶντος· καὶ σοὶ πρέ 62.770 πει ἡ δόξα καὶ ἡ τιμὴ καὶ ἡ προσκύνησις, ἅμα τῷ Πατρὶ σὺν τῷ ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι, νῦν καὶ ἀεὶ, καὶ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων.
