everyone that he was already dead. And around the fifth hour of the seventh day, water suddenly gushed up from the east of his enclosure, and when they dug, they found the form of a cave filled with water. And they built in it seven mouths. And all were glorifying the God of heaven and earth.

22 [A certain queen of the Saracens, being barren, went away entreating him so that she might bear a child. For she was reproached by her husband every day, and falling down many times and entreating for a sufficient number of days, she was persevering at the pillar of the holy Symeon. The saint then declared to her: ‘Go away to your house, and the Lord is able to provide what is advantageous for you.’ And having gone away to her house, she was with her husband and immediately conceived. And she bore a daughter. And for five years she neither spoke nor walked. And she comes with her husband and her child, weeping, and the holy Symeon answered and said to them: ‘Remain, and God is able to help.’ But when they had spent seven days and were not benefited at all, they departed, grieving and saying, ‘Certainly the Lord did not wish to heal her.’ And as they were on their way and had gone not a short distance, they turn to see the column of the holy Symeon. And behold, their daughter suddenly cried out, saying, ‘Glory to you, holy Symeon.’ And when the parents of the child saw it, they glorified God through the holy Symeon.

23 Hear another mystery. On one of the days when some soldiers were on their way, a certain woman, having come from great desire to see the face of the holy Symeon, by what pretext could she see him; she contrived, therefore, to take on the appearance of a man and see him. So on one of the days she saw a number of soldiers going to the saint to pray. And taking up the appearance of a soldier, she also journeyed with them. And having arrived at the place where the pillar of the holy Symeon was, she says to the soldiers with her: ‘Brothers, if you wish, leave your animals with me, go in and be blessed by the just man, and when you come out again, I also will go in, so that I may be worthy to be blessed by the just man.’ And when they had entered and worshipped, the holy Symeon says to them: ‘One soldier from among you was left outside.’ And they said to him, ‘Yes, master; he is guarding our animals.’ And the just man answered and said to them: ‘Go out and say to him: Do not be troubled, for you have been heard and you are blessed by the Lord.’ And they, going out, inquired, asking him, ‘What good has been done for you by God? For behold, the just man said to us, ‘Say to the soldier with you who remained outside: do not be troubled, for your prayer has been heard and you are blessed by the Lord.’ And he answered and said to them, ‘I confess to you, brothers, I am a woman, and out of great desire I wanted to see the just man, since I am a sinner.’ And when the soldiers heard this, they were astonished, blessing God through the holy Symeon, and they went in peace.

24 If you would hear another mystery. When a sufficient crowd was present, † according to custom, with incense, crying out to him: ‘Servant of God, the people persevere to receive your blessing, command, dismiss them, for behold they have been persevering for a long time,’ and I was receiving no answer. For his spirit was not present. And as I was crying out to him insistently and not receiving an answer, the deacon began to lament up by the column, thinking that he had died. And when the crowd of people saw it, they began to wail and beat themselves with a great lamentation, mourning their sins. And after a considerable time, his holy spirit returned again, and he answered and said to the people: ‘Brothers, a great ship on the sea was being violently tossed by a storm at this hour, having about three hundred souls; and they cried out
