51. Alogi, so called by us, who reject the Gospel of John and the Word in it, who is God from above, from the Father, forever, not accepting the Gospel according to John itself nor his Apocalypse. 52. Adamians, but by some called Adamizontes, holding a doctrine more of mockery than of truth. For naked as from their mother's womb both men and women gather together, and thus perform their readings and prayers and whatever else, supposedly being monastics and continent and not accepting marriage, considering their own church a paradise. 53. Sampsaeans, also called Elkesaites, still to this day inhabiting Arabia, the land situated above the Dead Sea; who, deceived by a certain false prophet Elxai, from whose family there still to this day existed Marthous and Marthana, two women worshipped by the heresy as goddesses, in all things they are similar to the Ebionites. 54. Theodotians, from Theodotus the tanner from Byzantium. He was highly skilled in Greek learning, and being with others in the days of the persecution at that time, he alone fell away while they were martyred; because he was being reproached, he contrived to say that Christ was a mere man, so that he might not be under the charge of having denied God, thus he taught. 55. Melchisedekians, who honor Melchizedek, claiming him to be a certain power and not a mere man, and have dared to refer and to say all things in his name. 56. Bardesianists. This Bardesanes came from Mesopotamia, at first being of the true faith and excelling in wisdom 2.213, but turning aside from the truth he taught doctrines similar to Valentinus, except for a few things in which he differs from Valentinus. 57. Noetians. This Noetus was from Smyrna in Asia. But carried away by pride along with certain others, he taught that Christ was the Father-Son, saying that the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit are the same. And he said he himself was Moses, and he said his brother was Aaron. 58. Valesians. These, as we have supposed, are they who inhabit Bacatha, a chief village of Arabia of Philadelphia, who castrate those who happen upon them and are their guests; and most of them are also themselves castrated eunuchs. And they teach certain other things full of heresy, destroying the things of the Law and of the Prophets and introducing certain other shameful practices. 59. Cathari, who joined with Novatus the Roman, and completely reject the twice-married and do not accept repentance. 60. Angelici. These have completely disappeared; but they used to boast that they had an angelic order, or because they invoked † angels. 61. Apostolici, also called Apotactics, and they also live around Pisidia, accepting only Apotactics, and praying by themselves. And they are similar to the Encratites, but they think other things besides them. 62. Sabellians, who hold opinions similar to the Noetians, except that they do not say the Father suffered. 63. Origenians, of a certain Origen. But these are shameful doers, committing unspeakable acts and giving over their own bodies to corruption. 2.214 64. Other Origenians, of Origen, also called Adamantius, the writer, who reject the resurrection of the dead, and Christ a creature and the Holy Spirit
