Mt 10, 8 Do not sell the gifts of Christ. 64 Mt 10, 10 What need of a bag for those who do not carry any provisions? See how He teaches poverty through saying not even two tunics. from this it is clear that the Lord used one tunic. 65 Mt 10, 16 He calls the disciples sheep, the disciples of the Jews wolves because of their murderousness against them. He wishes them to be wise so as not to be ignorant of the villainies of the wicked, and innocent so as to bear readily with those who wrong them and not to retaliate and that they might not be angered at those who disobey. 66 Mt 10, 16 He commands us to be wise as the serpent in every temptation, preserving our head, which is our faith; for by however many blows the serpent is struck, it keeps its own head unharmed and again by a clever device casts off its old skin, being pressed by slipping into a narrow space and casting off its old age. He wishes therefore for us also through the narrow way and affliction to put off the old man and put on the new in his place. 67 Mt 10, 19- The Savior says to the disciples, that it will be given to you in that hour what you will say; for it is not you who are speaking, but the spirit of your Father. 68 col1 Mt 10, 23 He speaks of his own arrival not as the manifest one that will be at the end of life, but the consolation and help that comes from him from time to time to those who are afflicted for God's sake. He does not speak of his second arrival, but the consolation that will come from time to time through him to the saints. 69 Mt 10, 26 Both your virtue and the wickedness of the Jews will become very clear to all. 70 Mt 10, 34 Having taught the disciples to endure insults and to persevere in labors and not to be distressed, He now also arms them against certain other things, which seem to violently compel a person not to stand apart from evils. And these things are the separation from father and mother and other friends and relatives. For this reason he says: I came not to bring peace, but a sword. And he calls this the thing that cuts and separates us from the unbelievers, whether it be a father, or a mother, or anyone else of those who are very kindly disposed towards us. 71 Mt 10, 37-38 He who does not renounce the present life is not worthy of me. 72 Mt 10, 40 He who gladly receives those sent by someone honors the one who sent them, and the opposite. Or also thus: he who receives the apostles who preach the Trinity receives the very fullness of the Godhead. And we seem even now to receive them spiritually, if with an open soul we shall receive their counsels. 73 Mt 10, 40-42 God determines the rewards not according to the things given, but according to the dispositions of those who provide.
74 Mt 11, 10 Lest some might think that John was fickle, whom formerly
he had preached as Christ, he now was ignorant of, he said this. 75 Mt 11, 11 The second birth is that of the resurrection through which we are reborn and through the Holy Spirit we attain immortality, we who are about to enjoy the good things. and the very least there surpasses John, even if he did receive the Holy Spirit from the womb. 76 Mt 11, 11 And others say: John is lesser than those who are already spiritual, who have been renewed according to the new man, but greater than the earthly because he sees the things which he hinted at; but they did not see, as the Lord testified and he himself says his joy has been fulfilled, because he hears the voice of the bridegroom. 77 col1 Mt 11, 19 Christ himself, being the living and subsistent wisdom, was judged righteous by those who believed in him, having administered all things, or because, being insulted by the unbelieving Jews, he did not cease speaking to them kindly and calling them children, so that he might be justified in his words and prevail when he is judged. The subsistent wisdom was judged righteous by those who believed in him, or because, calling those who insulted him children, he did not cease speaking to them kindly. 78 col1 Mt 11, 20-24 Since He performed many signs
