all the souls beseeching the Lord God. And crying out to me with dreadful oaths and having seen what was happening to them, I besought God, who is ever long-suffering towards our sins, to calm the sea, and having given them a hand, I saved them all. And hearing of the miracle, the multitudes of the people glorified God through the holy Symeon. And the just man, having blessed them, dismissed them in peace.
25 A great tumor came out of a female snake, and from its pains it went for one mile. And the male, suffering with her pains, taking his female, they came to the lord Symeon, and having arrived at the pillar, they separated from each other. For the female, not daring to be seen by the just man, went to the women's section, but the male, entering among that crowd, was prostrating himself before the pillar, moving his head up and down and beseeching the just man. But the crowds, seeing the immense size of the snake, fled from it. And the holy Symeon, seeing this, said to the crowds: Do not flee, brothers, for truly he has come here with a prayer. For his female is very sick and has gone to the women's section. And he says to the snake, Take up mud from the earth and bring it to your wife. And placing it on her, breathe on her and you will heal her. And the snake, taking some of the mud, went to his female. And the crowds, seeing this, followed him to see what he was about to do. And they see his female standing upright outside the railings, having a great tumor, and the snake, taking the mud, places it on her and, breathing on her, in the presence of all, healed her. And taking her, he departed. And the crowds, seeing the miracle, glorified God. 26 And another wonder happened in his days.
26 For when the great threat of terrors came upon the whole inhabited world, all the East and Antioch were brought to him, begging him to entreat God. For there were many collapses of buildings and deaths of many people, so that even the just man with his pillar was shaken like a reed by the wind. And weeping with them, he said to the crowds: Brothers, they have all turned aside, together they have become worthless; there is not one. You do not listen to me, but as to who will take advantage of whom your fornications and your iniquities have superabounded. Truly I say to you, brothers: it is easier for me to speak with the Lord than with you who are unfaithful. And ordering them to cease the litany, he made a prayer, and again the threat persisted in the same way, shaking all things. And he allowed them to cry, 'Lord, have mercy.' And as they persisted for many hours and cried out, 'Give us peace,' he made a great prayer. And after he had completed the prayer, he answered and said to the people: Brothers, truly I say to you, that from all the multitude, no one was heard except one other soul; and so that I may persuade you, behold, I will make him come into the midst. And having commanded him to come, in the presence of all he questions him and says to him: Brother, believe me when I say: of all these, you alone were heard; but inform everyone and tell us, what good have you done? But he was unwilling, saying: I am a sinner, forgive me. But as he was being compelled for a long time, a voice came to him from heaven, saying: Your prayer has been heard. And as the countryman stood in the midst of all the people, he began to relate to them that 'I am a farmer, and it is my custom, the labor of my day, whatever I work, I divide it into three parts. And first I set aside the part for the poor, after the public tax, and thus the part for my own expense. Doing this until now, I have not ceased.' And all, greeting him, were prostrating themselves before him. And they crowded the man, each one being eager to see him.

πᾶσαι αἱ ψυχαὶ παρακαλοῦσαι τὸν δεσπότην θεόν. καὶ κράζοντές μοι μεθ' ὅρκων φρικτῶν καὶ θεασάμενος τὸ συμβαῖνον αὐτοῖς παρεκάλεσα τὸν ἀεὶ μακρο θυμοῦντα θεὸν ἐπὶ ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις ἡμῶν τὴν θάλασσαν κατα πραῧναι, καὶ δεδωκὼς αὐτοῖς χεῖρα ἀπέσωσα ἅπαντας. καὶ ἀκούσαντες τὸ μυστήριον τὰ πλήθη τοῦ λαοῦ ἐδόξαζον τὸν θεὸν διὰ τοῦ ἁγίου Συμεῶνος. καὶ εὐλογήσας αὐτοὺς ὁ δίκαιος ἀπέλυσεν ἐν εἰρήνῃ.
25 Ὄφεως θηλείας ἐξῆλθεν φῦμα μέγα καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἀλγη δόνων αὐτῆς ἀπῄει ἐπὶ μίλιον ἕν. καὶ συναλγήσας ὁ ἄρρεν τοῖς πόνοις αὐτῆς λαβὼν τὴν θήλειαν αὐτοῦ ἤρχοντο πρὸς τὸν κύριν Συμεῶνα καὶ φθάσαντες παρὰ τὸν στύλον ἐχωρίσθη σαν ἀλλήλων. ἡ γὰρ θήλεια μὴ τολμῶσα ὀφθῆναι τῷ δικαίῳ ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὸ μέρος τῶν γυναικῶν, ὁ δὲ ἄρρεν εἰσελθὼν μεταξὺ τοῦ πλήθους ἐκείνου προσεκύνει τῷ στύλῳ ἄνω κάτω ποιῶν τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ δεόμενος τῷ δικαίῳ. θεασάμενοι δὲ οἱ ὄχλοι τὸ παμμεγεθὲς τοῦ ὄφεως ἔφυγον ἀπ' αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἰδὼν ὁ ἅγιος Συμεὼν εἶπεν τοῖς ὄχλοις· Μὴ φεύγετε, ἀδελφοί, ὄντως γὰρ εὐχὴν ἔχων ἦλθεν ὧδε. ἡ γὰρ θήλεια αὐτοῦ ἀσθε νεῖ σφόδρα καὶ εἰς μέρος τῶν γυναικῶν ἀπῆλθεν. καὶ λέγει τῷ ὄφει. Ἔπαρον ἐκ τῆς γῆς πηλὸν καὶ ἀνένεγκε τῇ γυναικί σου. καὶ ἐπιθήσας ἐμφύσησον αὐτὴν καὶ ἔχει αὐτῇ θεραπεῦσαι. λαβὼν δὲ ὁ ὄφις ἐκ τῆς πηλοῦ ἀπῄει πρὸς τὴν θήλειαν αὐτοῦ. θεασάμενοι δὲ οἱ ὄχλοι κατηκολούθησαν αὐτὸν ἰδεῖν τί μέλλει ποιεῖν. καὶ βλέπουσι τὴν θήλειαν αὐτοῦ ἑστῶσαν ὀρθὴν ἔξω θεν τῶν καγκέλλων ἔχουσαν φῦμα μέγα καὶ λαβὼν ὁ ὄφις τὸν πηλὸν ἐπιτιθεῖ αὐτὴν καὶ ἐμφυσήσας αὐτῇ παρουσίᾳ πάν των ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτήν. καὶ λαβὼν αὐτὴν ἀνεχώρησεν. καὶ θεασάμενοι οἱ ὄχλοι τὸ μυστήριον ἐδόξασαν τὸν θεόν. 26 Ἕτερον δὲ θαῦμα ἐγένετο ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις αὐτοῦ.
26 ἐπελθούσης γὰρ τῆς μεγάλης ἀπειλῆς τῶν φόβων ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν οἰκουμένην κατήγοντο πρὸς αὐτὸν πᾶσα ἡ Ἀνατολὴ καὶ Ἀντιόχεια δεόμενοι αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸ δυσωπῆσαι τὸν θεόν. πολλαὶ γὰρ πτώσεις ἐγίνοντο οἰκημάτων καὶ θνήσεις ἀνθρώπων ἱκα νῶν, ὥστε καὶ τὸν δίκαιον σὺν τῷ στύλῳ ὥσπερ κάλαμον ὑπὸ ἀνέμου δονεῖσθαι. καὶ σὺν αὐτοῖς δακρύων ἔλεγεν τοῖς ὄχλοις· Ἀδελφοί, πάντες ἐξέκλιναν ἅμα ἠχρειώθησαν, οὐκ ἔστιν ἕως ἑνός. οὐκ ἀκούετέ μου, ἀλλὰ εἰς τὸ τίς τίνα πλεονεκτή σει αἱ πορνεῖαι ὑμῶν καὶ αἱ ἀδικίαι ὑπερπεριέσσευσαν. ὄντως ὑμῖν ἀδελφοὶ λέγω· εὐκοπώτερόν ἐστιν μοι λαλεῖν μετὰ τοῦ δεσπότου ἢ μεθ' ὑμῶν τῶν ἀπίστων. καὶ κελεύσας παύσασθαι τὸ λιτανεύειν, ἐποίησεν εὐχήν, καὶ πάλιν ἐπέμενεν ἐν τοῖς αὐτοῖς ἡ ἀπειλὴ δονοῦσα τὰ πάντα. καὶ ἐπέτρεψεν αὐτοῖς κράζειν τὸ Κύριε ἐλέησον. καὶ ἐπιμενόντων αὐτῶν ἐπὶ ὥρας ἱκανὰς καὶ κραζόντων αὐτῶν· ∆ὸς ἡμῖν εἰρήνην, ἐποίησεν εὐχὴν μεγάλην. καὶ μετὰ τὸ πληρῶσαι αὐτὸν τὴν εὐχὴν ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν τῷ λαῷ· Ἀδελφοὶ ὄντως ὑμῖν λέγω, ὅτι ἀπὸ παντὸς τοῦ πλήθους εἰ μὴ μία ψυχὴ ἄλλη οὐκ εἰσηκούσθη· ἵνα δὲ πείσω ὑμᾶς, ἰδοὺ ἐν τῷ μέσῳ αὐτὸν ποιῶ ἐλθεῖν. καὶ κελεύ σας αὐτὸν ἐλθεῖν παρουσίαν πάντων ἐπερωτᾷ αὐτὸν καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· Ἀδελφὲ πίστευσόν μοι λέγοντι· ἀπὸ πάντων τούτων σὺ μόνος ἠκούσθης· ἀλλὰ πληροφόρησον πάντας καὶ εἰπὲ ἡμῖν, τί σοι ἀγαθὸν πέπρακται. ἐκεῖνος δὲ οὐκ ἤθελεν λέγων· Ἁμαρτωλός εἰμι, συνχώρησόν μοι. ἀναγκαζομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πολὺ ἦλθεν αὐτῷ φωνὴ ἐκ τὸν οὐρανὸν λέγουσα· Εἰση κούσθη ἡ δέησίς σου. καὶ τοῦ ἀγροίκου ἑστῶτος μεταξὺ παν τὸς τοῦ λαοῦ ἤρξατο αὐτοῖς διηγεῖσθαι ὅτι Ἄνθρωπός εἰμι γεωργὸς καὶ ἔθος μοί ἐστιν, τὸν κόπον μου τῆς ἡμέρας, ὃν ἐὰν κάμω, εἰς τρία μέρη μερίζω αὐτά. καὶ πρῶτον ἀποτίθε μαι τὸ μέρος τῶν πτωχῶν, μετὰ τὸ τέλος τοῦ δημοσίου, καὶ οὕτως τὸ τοῦ ἀναλώματός μου. τοῦτο ποιῶν ἕως τῆς δεῦρο οὐκ ἐπαυσάμην. καὶ πάντες ἀσπαζόμενοι προσεκύνουν αὐτόν. καὶ συνέθλιβον τὸν ἄνδρα εἷς ἕκαστος μαινόμενος ἰδεῖν αὐτόν.
