Avoid also the disorderly bathing that takes place in a bath with men; for the nets of the evil one are many. Let a faithful woman not bathe in a bath for both men and women; for if she covers her face, hiding her appearance from strange men with modesty, how shall such a one enter naked into a bath with men? But if there is a women's bath, let her bathe in an orderly manner, with modesty, moderately. Let her not bathe excessively, neither too much nor too often, nor in the middle of the day, but if possible not even every day. Let your appointed time for bathing be the tenth hour; for it is necessary for you, being a faithful woman, to always and in every way flee the curiosity that attracts many eyes. And your contentiousness towards all, but especially towards your husband, cut off, being a faithful woman, so that your husband, whether he be a believer or a gentile, may not be scandalized because of you and blaspheme God, and you be found an heir of woe before God. "For woe," it says, "to him through whom My name is blasphemed among the nations." But if your husband is a believer, he will be compelled, as one who knows the scriptures, to say the word that is written in Wisdom: "It is better to live in a desert than with a talkative and contentious woman." Therefore, you women, through modesty and gentleness, demonstrate piety for the conversion and encouragement to faith of all outsiders, whether women or men. And if we have instructed you by admonishing you with a few words, our sisters and daughters and members, as you yourselves are wise and blameless in life, seek to know the teachings through which you will be able to approach the kingdom of our Lord pleasingly and find rest.
