And Stephen in the Acts says: Stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit, as your fathers did. And when Paul speaks concerning the Father: It is God who justifies, who is he who condemns? he says the same things also concerning the Son and concerning the Holy Spirit likewise: But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God. For there is one glory of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; My glory, says the Scripture, I will not give to another; for the Son is not a second God, but the Word of the one and only God, spoken of as God in the Father, as also the Father is spoken of as God in the Son; as Isaiah also says, speaking of the Son as God with the Father: And they will worship you and pray in you, because God is in you, and besides you there is no God. For you are God, and we did not know, God of Israel, Savior. All who oppose him will be ashamed and confounded. But those who oppose him are they who do not confess him and his Spirit to be of the same substance as the Father, and that besides him there is no God, and those who are ashamed of his passion and poverty. For no one can know God, unless he confesses with the apostle Thomas the one crucified and risen from the dead to be Lord and God, who says to his apostles: If you had known me, you would have known my Father also, and from now on you know him, and have seen him. Σὺ γὰρ εἶ ὁ Θεὸς, καὶ οὐκ ᾔδειμεν, Θεὸς τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ Σωτήρ. Αἰσχυνθήσονται καὶ ἐντραπήσονται πάντες οἱ ἀντικείμενοι αὐτῷ. Ἀντίκεινται δὲ αὐτῷ οἱ μὴ ὁμολογοῦντες αὐτὸν καὶ τὸ Πνεῦμα αὐτοῦ τῆς αὐτῆς τῷ Πατρὶ οὐσίας, καὶ πλὴν αὐτοῦ μὴ εἶναι Θεὸν, καὶ οἱ τὸ πάθος αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν πτωχείαν ἐπαισχυνόμενοι. Καὶ πῶς σὺ λέγεις· ∆εῖξον ἡμῖν τὸν Πατέρα; Οὐ πιστεύεις, ὅτι ἐγὼ ἐν τῷ Πατρὶ, καὶ ὁ Πατὴρ ἐν ἐμοί ἐστι; Τὰ ῥήματα ἃ ἐγὼ λαλῶ, οὐκ ἀπ' ἐμαυτοῦ λαλῶ. Ὁ δὲ Πατήρ μου ἐν ἐμοὶ μένων, αὐτὸς ποιεῖ τὰ ἔργα. Πιστεύετέ μοι, ὅτι ἐγὼ ἐν τῷ Πατρί μου, καὶ ὁ Πατὴρ ἐν ἐμοί ἐστιν. Εἰ δὲ μὴ, διὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτὰ πιστεύετέ μοι. Ἔργον δὲ ἦν τοῦ Θεοῦ Πατρὸς τὸ ἐκβάλλειν τὰ δαιμόνια· ἐν Πνεύματι δὲ ἁγίῳ εἶπεν ἐκβάλλειν τὰ δαιμόνια· Εἰ δὲ ἐγὼ, φησὶν, ἐν Πνεύματι Θεοῦ ἐκβάλλω τὰ δαιμόνια· Περὶ οὗ ὁ Λουκᾶς φησιν·
