7. These things, beloved brethren, when we have learnt from the sacred reading, and have gathered in what way we ought to approach to prayer, let us know also from the Lord’s teaching what we should pray. “Thus,” says He, “pray ye:—
“Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven so in earth. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And suffer us not to be led into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.”15 Matt. vi. 9.
VII. Quae nos, fratres dilectissimi, de divina lectione discentes, postquam cognovimus qualiter ad orationem accedere debeamus, cognoscamus, docente Domino, et quid oremus. Sic, inquit, orate: PATER NOSTER QUI ES IN COELIS, SANCTIFICETUR NOMEN TUUM, ADVENIAT REGNUM TUUM, FIAT VOLUNTAS TUA SICUT IN COELO ET IN TERRA: PANEM NOSTRUM QUOTIDIANUM DA NOBIS HODIE, ET REMITTE NOBIS DEBITA NOSTRA SICUT ET NOS REMITTIMUS DEBITORIBUS NOSTRIS; ET NE NOS PATIARIS INDUCI IN TENTATIONEM, SED LIBERA NOS A MALO. AMEN (Matth. VI, 9-13).
