compassion and majesty. But as far as we are able, we hymn the only all-holy One, fulfilling the prophecy: 'I remembered God, and was gladdened.' For through this cycle I have passed through the great and wondrous miracles of the Savior, that by remembering each one I might be gladdened; if indeed we have worthily comprehended the memory, as was fitting. But whether in pretense or in truth God is proclaimed; wherefore with the prophet let us say: 'I remembered God, and was gladdened.' And the God of powers, who has shown love for mankind and much goodness, accepting our weakness and our prayers by grace, and having led us to a better, good providence, may he himself keep our soul undefiled, our body unspotted, our spirit unpolluted, may he guard our life from harm, our faith inviolate, our brotherly love without insult, our virginity blameless, our friendship unbroken, our love unfeigned, our virtue unshaken, our righteousness unimpeded, our faith bearing fruit. May he open wide for us the gates of paradise, and quench the flaming sword, and open the door of the kingdom, and prepare the pure enjoyment, and set us at his right hand, and with his right hand crown us through the loving-kindness of his own goodness; for to him belongs glory, to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. εὐσπλαγχνίαν καὶ μεγαλειότητα. Ἀλλ' ὅσον χωροῦμεν, ἀνυμνοῦμεν τὸν μόνον ὑπεράγιον, πρόῤῥησιν ἐκπληροῦντες, τὸ, Ἐμνήσθην τοῦ Θεοῦ, καὶ ηὐφράνθην. ∆ιὰ ταύτης γὰρ περιόδου διῆλθον τὰ τοῦ Σωτῆρος μεγάλα καὶ παράδοξα θαύματα, ἵνα καθ' ἑκάστην μνημονεύων εὐφραίνωμαι· εἴ γε ἀξίως τῇ μνήμῃ ἐχωρήσαμεν, καθὼς ἔπρεπεν. Ἀλλ' εἴτε προφάσει, εἴτε ἀληθείᾳ Θεὸς καταγγελθῇ· διὸ μετὰ τοῦ προφήτου λέγωμεν· Ἐμνήσθην τοῦ Θεοῦ, καὶ ηὐφράνθην. Ὁ δὲ Θεὸς τῶν δυνάμεων, ὁ φιλανθρωπίαν καὶ πολλὴν ἀγαθότητα ἀναδειξάμενος, ἡμῶν τὴν ἀσθένειαν καὶ τὰς εὐχὰς προσδεχόμενος χάριτι, καὶ εἰς κρείττονα ἀγαθὴν πρόνοιαν ἀγαγὼν, αὐτὸς ἡμῶν τηρήσει τὴν ψυχὴν ἀκηλίδωτον, τὸ σῶμα ἄσπιλον, τὸ πνεῦμα ἀρύπωτον, τὴν ζωὴν ἀνεπηρέαστον φυλάξειε, τὴν πίστιν ἀσύλωτον, τὴν φιλαδελφίαν ἀνύβριστον, τὴν παρθενίαν ἀμώμητον, τὴν φιλίαν ἀθρύλλητον, τὴν ἀγάπην ἀνυπόκριτον, τὴν ἀρετὴν ἀκλυδώνιστον, τὴν δικαιοσύνην ἀνεμπόδιστον, τὴν πίστιν καρπουμένην. Τὰς πύλας ἡμῖν τοῦ παραδείσου ἀναπετάσειε, καὶ φλογίνην ῥομφαίαν κατασβέσειε, καὶ τὴν θύραν τῆς βασιλείας ἀνοίξειε, καὶ τὴν ἀκήρατον ἀπόλαυσιν εὐτρεπίσειε, καὶ ἐκ δεξιῶν στήσειε, καὶ τῇ δεξιᾷ στεφανώσειε τῇ φιλανθρωπίᾳ τῆς αὐτοῦ ἀγαθότητος· ὅτι αὐτῷ πρέπει δόξα, τῷ Πατρὶ καὶ τῷ Υἱῷ καὶ τῷ ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι, νῦν καὶ ἀεὶ καὶ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων.
