ν'. Concerning the vision of God and of divine things and of the wondrous energy of the Holy Spirit; and concerning the properties of the Holy and Consubstantial Trinity; and that he who has not succeeded in entering into the kingdom of heaven will profit nothing, even if he be outside the torments of Hades.
να'. That when the Holy Spirit shines in us all the passions are put to flight as darkness by the light; but when it withdraws its rays, we are assailed by these and by evil thoughts.
νβ'. Concerning theology; and that for one who has not been changed by participation in the Holy Spirit and become by grace a god in knowledge it is not permitted to teach men divine things.
νγ'. A discourse in the form of a dialogue between God and the father of these discourses; and how this divine father, illumined by the Holy Spirit, spoke with God, and was initiated by Him into things divine and human.
νδ'. That to each person God has given the gift through the Holy Spirit fittingly and for his benefit to be active, not as he himself wishes, but as he was predestined by Him, so that he may not be useless in the midst of His church.
νε'. That for those who have kept holy baptism pure (31) the Holy Spirit remains; but from those who have defiled it, It departs.
νστ'. A prayer to God for what has happened to him, at once supplicatory and eucharistic.
νζ'. That he who has desired God with all his soul hates the world. νη'. A common teaching with a reproof for all: kings, high priests, priests,
monks, laypeople, spoken and said from the mouth of God.
A mystical prayer of our father among the saints, Symeon, by which he invokes the Holy Spirit, he who foresees it. (33)
Come, the true light, come, the eternal life, come, the hidden
mystery, come, the unnameable treasure, come, the unutterable thing, come, the incomprehensible person, come, the everlasting exultation, come, the unwaning light, come, the true expectation of all who are to be saved, come, the raising of the fallen, come, the resurrection of the dead, come, the powerful one, who ever makes and remakes and changes all things by Your will alone! Come, the invisible and intangible, altogether impalpable one, come, the one who ever remains unmoved and at every hour is wholly moved and comes to us who lie in Hades, You who are above all the heavens, come, the much-desired and celebrated name, yet what you are, or to know what you are like or of what kind, is utterly impossible for us to speak of. Come, the eternal joy, come, the unfading crown, come, the purple robe of our great God and king, come, the belt, crystal-like and studded with precious stones, come, the unapproachable sandal, come, the royal crimson and truly imperial right hand! Come, you whom my wretched soul has desired and desires, come, the alone to the alone, for I am alone, as you see! Come, you who have separated me from all things and made me alone upon the earth, come, you who have become yourself desire (34) in me and made me desire you, the altogether unapproachable one! Come, my breath and my life, come, the consolation of my humble soul, come, my joy and my glory and my perpetual delight!
I thank you, that you have become one spirit with me; without confusion, without change, without alteration, O God over all, and you yourself have become all things in all for me, food
