rather, persuaded by these on the third day, he answers the people with the counsel of the young men. And they departed, having renounced his rule, and the ten tribes indeed establish over themselves as king Jeroboam, the son of Nabath and Sarira, a woman who was a harlot, originating from the tribe of Ephraim, but the tribe of Judah and of Benjamin remain with Rehoboam. From that time the people, having been divided, each part possessed its own name and royal house, just as was said in the preceding. Jeroboam, then, the son of Nabath, reigns in Samaria for 22 years. During his reign, the Shilonite prophesies. During his reign, Sousakeim the Egyptian, having marched against Jerusalem, takes away all the treasures of the temple and those of their king Jeroboam. Nadab, his son, succeeding Jeroboam, 40 reigns for 2 years. Baasha the son of Ahijah, having killed Nadab, reigns in Samaria for 24 years. During his reign, Jehu son of Hanani prophesies. Elah, succeeding his father Baasha, reigns for two years. Zimri, who had been entrusted by Elah with command of the chariots, kills him, and having destroyed his entire house, reigns for seven months. Zambri, the leader of the army, rises up against the reigning Bambri; and as he seemed to be winning decisively in many things, Zimri, setting fire to his own things, perishes along with them. But as Israel was divided over a king, with some choosing this one and others Tibni son of Ginath, and with the followers of Zambri prevailing, he reigns over Samaria for twelve years. Ahab, succeeding his father Zambri, reigns for twenty-two years. His wife Jezebel (she was the daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians) deceived him into renouncing the worship of God. The prophet Micaiah was during the reign of Ahab, having bound his head with a strap and reproached him on account of Ader. During this time it happens that Jericho was built, and Achar from Bethel builds it, losing Abiron his firstborn son at the laying of the foundation according to the oracle of Jesus, and Segur his younger son at the completion of the city. During his reign Elijah and Obadiah prophesy. And Obadiah was continually hiding himself and hiding the other prophets, fearing the plot from Jezebel. And at the end Elijah anoints Elisha 41 as a prophet. And Micaiah was also still prophesying. Ahaziah, his son, succeeding Ahab, reigned for two years, and during his reign Elijah and Elisha prophesy. Joram, his brother, succeeding to the rule, reigns for 12 years. During his reign Elijah was taken up from the earth. During his reign, those in that region, suffering from famine, slaughtered their own children and tasted of their flesh, and they used dove's dung dipped instead of salt. Jehu son of Shaphat of Nameses, having been anointed by Elisha as king over Samaria, took vengeance on the whole house of Ahab; for he shoots down and kills king Joram himself, finding him being treated for his wounds, and he disposes of his mother Jezebel from a precipice, and having disposed of the seventy sons of Ahab, he set forth their heads at the entrances. Then, having gathered all the prophets and priests and peoples of Baal, pretending to perform a public sacrifice, he slaughters them all at once, and demolishes the idol-temple, and makes it a latrine; and he reigned for 28 years. And Elisha also still prophesied during his reign. Jehoahaz, succeeding his father Jehu, reigns for 17 years. Elisha still prophesied during his reign and died. Joash son of Jehoahaz reigns after him for 16 years. Jeroboam, his son, succeeding Joash, reigned for 41 years, and during his reign 42 Jonah and Amos prophesied. Zechariah, succeeding his father Jeroboam, reigned for six months. Shallum, having killed Zechariah, reigned for 1 month. Menahem the son of Gadi, having risen up against Shallum, reigned for ten years. This man, having subdued and killed those in Tiphsah who did not receive him, also rips open the pregnant women. Pekahiah the son of Menahem, succeeding his father, reigned for years
