and heal the earth which the Watchers have destroyed, and proclaim the healing of the plague, so that they may heal the plague and all the sons of men may not perish through the mystery that the Watchers have spoken and taught their sons, and all the earth has been laid waste by the works of the teaching of Azazel; and upon it write all the sins. And to Gabriel he said: Go, Gabriel, against the giants, against the bastards, against the sons of fornication, and destroy the sons of the Watchers from among the sons of men. Send them against one another, from them against themselves, in war and in destruction, and length of days shall not be theirs, and every request is not for their fathers, because they hope to live an eternal life, and that each of them will live 500 years. And to Michael he said: Go, Michael, bind Semjaza and the others with him, who have mingled with the daugh 26 ters of men to be defiled with them in their uncleanness. And when their sons have been slaughtered and they see the destruction of their beloved ones, bind them for 70 generations in the valleys of the earth, until the day of their judgment, until the day of the completion of the end, until the judgment of the age of ages is accomplished. Then they will be carried off into the abyss of fire and into torment and into the prison of eternal confinement. And whoever is condemned and destroyed from now on, will be bound with them until the completion of their generation. And after other things: and now the giants who were born from spirits and flesh they will call them evil spirits on the earth, because their dwelling will be upon the earth. They will be evil spirits, the spirits that have come forth from the body of their flesh, because from men they were made, and from the holy Watchers is the beginning of their creation and the beginning of their foundation. Evil spirits will be upon the earth, the spirits of the giants pasturing, doing wrong, destroying, falling upon and wrestling and casting down upon the earth and causing panic and eating nothing, but fasting and making apparitions and thirsting and stumbling. And the spirits will rise up against the sons of men and of women, because they have come forth from them. And from the day of the time of the slaughter and destruction and death of the giants, the Naphileim, the mighty ones of the earth, the great renowned ones, the spirits proceeding from their soul, as from the flesh they will be, destroying without judgment, thus they will destroy until the day of completion, until the great judgment, in which the great age will be completed, it will be completed once and for all together. And again: But from the mountain on which they swore and anathematized one another, that for ever cold and snow and frost and dew shall not depart from it nor descend upon it, except it shall descend upon it as a curse, until the day of the great judgment. In that time it will be burned and humbled and will be burning and melting like wax from fire, so it will be burned for all its works. And now I say to you, sons of men: great wrath is 27 against you, against your sons, and this wrath will not cease from you until the time of the slaughter of your sons. and your beloved ones will perish and your honored ones will die from all the earth, because all the days of their life from now on will not be more than 120 years. and do not expect to live for more years; for there is for them no way of escape from now on because of the wrath, with which the king of all ages is wroth with you; do not suppose that you will escape these things. And these things are from the first book of Enoch concerning the Watchers, although one must not pay complete attention to apocryphal works, especially the more simple-minded, both because they contain some superfluous things and things foreign to the ecclesiastical tradition and because they have been adulterated by Jews and heretics. Nevertheless, the blessed Paul also rarely made use of some apocryphal sayings, as when
