Moses from Egypt, 5 generations, 443 years. And from the flood until the birth of Moses are 1484 years. And from Adam until the birth of Moses are 4036 years. And Moses lived 120 years. And after Moses, Joshua the son of Nun and Phinehas governed Israel. Therefore, from Adam until the death of Moses and Aaron are 4156 years. And in the time of Joshua the son of Nun, from the tribe of Ja 62 pheth, someone named Ogyges, an aboriginal, reigned over the country of Attica for 32 years. And a great flood occurred in his reign, and he perished and all that country and every soul inhabiting that country of Attica alone. And from that time the same country remained deserted and uninhabited for 270 years, as is recorded in the writings of Africanus. And in the days of the exodus of the sons of Israel from Egypt, which was about to happen with Moses, a certain aboriginal named Aides reigned over the country of the Molossians; who married the so-called Melindia; he had from her a comely daughter, whom he called Persephone; and the Molossians in their own language called beautiful women "korai". And Pirithous, a senator of the same king Aides, being younger and wealthy, seemed to love her with passion; and by arrangement with the maiden he wished to abduct her by night. And when her father, king Aides, learned this, he was angered; and planning in secret to take revenge on the same Pirithous, so that he might feign ignorance to all, he shut outside where the maiden was staying the large, wild sheepdog which he had, which they also named Tricerberus because it had the head and body size of three dogs. Therefore, after the death of her mother, with the maiden being unaware of this, and with Pirithous having arrived by night and entered for the abduction of the maiden, the dog rushed and killed him. And the maiden herself, hearing the tu 63 mult, came out, and the dog killed her also; concerning whom, he says, they say that Pluto abducted the maiden; which things the most wise Palaephatus wrote. And in the time of Moses, Erechtheus reigned over the Assyrians, and Petissonios the comedian, Pharaoh, reigned over the Egyptians. He had with him powerful magicians, Jannes and Jambres. And during his reign the race of the Jews multiplied in Egypt from the generation of Jacob, who came to Egypt to his son Joseph, until Moses and his brother Aaron led them. This Moses took an Egyptian wife, the daughter of Jothor, the high priest of the Hellenes, a man honored by Pharaoh the king and the Egyptians. And the same Moses was educated in all the wisdom of Egypt; and the Egyptians feared the Jews as they had become numerous, and they reported to Pharaoh about them, and Pharaoh the king commanded the Jews to perform labors for the Egyptians and to make bricks under compulsion. Therefore, if any of the Egyptians wished to build either a house or a field, he forced them to do labor and make bricks, and all the Jews groaned from their toils. And Moses and his brother Aaron, having heeded the groaning of the sons of Israel, prayed to God; and the Lord God commanded Moses to go in to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him, Let the people of Israel go to wor 64 ship him. And Moses, taking his own brother Aaron, went in to Petissonios Pharaoh, king of Egypt; for he had confidence, both from his father-in-law Jothor, the priest of the Hellenes, and as the leader of the Jews; and he announced to him the command of God and that the God who made heaven and earth and the sea and all things in them says that you should let his people go to worship him. And Pharaoh, hearing, says to him, If you speak the truth that your God has commanded you to tell me these things, behold, there are Egyptians with me who perform wonders. If you defeat them by asking your
