14. But the flesh of his body are glued together. He could have said: But the flesh of his body are united. But he did not say it; for they are not united; it is not. The one with him is many; or things seeming to be one are glued together, by the one who says they are glued together, not united. Verse 15. His heart is hardened like a stone, and it stands like an unmalleable anvil. Not being hammered, not following reason, 17.105 but he is properly hard, unmalleable, unyielding. And if anyone has wrested power from the devil, and from this dragon, he himself has an unmalleable heart, and one not hammered. But if someone is gold, following the word of the goldsmith, he yields thus, until he becomes a golden plate, and receives the impressions of the letters of God, in Christ Jesus; to whom be glory for ever and ever, amen. CHAP. 42. Verse 10. And the Lord gave double, all that Job had before, for a doubling. The noble athlete, and the one who endured every temptation, the most courageous Job, receives prizes for his patience, as the Scripture says: All things double what they were before. But the Lord Jesus Christ gives prizes not double, but a hundredfold. For he says: Whoever leaves father or mother, house, brothers, sisters for my sake, or for the sake of the Gospel, as it is written in Mark, will receive a hundredfold, and will inherit eternal life. He would not have received double the former things, if he had not shown double the virtue.
ιδʹ.
