he says, the reconciliation of the world, but later the acceptance is life from the dead, the perfect good will of God having been shown to men, whenever he fulfills the promises to the fathers, bringing the race from them not because of their worth but because of his own truth. For a time, those called through truth spoke against it and did not obey the call, but those called through mercy arrived first, but then both will run together, both mercy and truth, and then injustice will fall completely and the unjust will be driven out from their power over the just, so that the just man enjoys peace and righteousness and peace are united with one another as with a kiss. 140 Ps 84,12.13 When truth has sprung up from the earth, righteousness will appear from heaven and all good things from God, and all things from the earth will be good. Because the Lord brought on the righteousness of God on behalf of men, the heavenly judgment being about to judge and arrange human affairs well in no other way, unless Christ was born as a man for the right ordering of things and took upon himself the whole matter of human nature.
141 Ps 85,11-13 Another, saying the psalm was spoken from the person of the son
says: For he asks from the Father for the exceptional and divine virtue to be in us, saying from himself these things which he wishes to happen for us, so that God is the one leading us according to what is said by Paul, As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God, and that we may walk in the truth of God, worshiping with the true and real worship of the spirit, and having the heart undivided for any other care, concerning only the divine fear, whole for the seeking of the true good. Then both the Lord himself offers up to God the hymn for the resurrection and the thanksgiving, since he descended to the lower parts of the earth, as it is written, and from there he ascended by the will of the Father and by the power of his divinity, and we accordingly finding the ascent by the grace from him.
142 Ps 87 arg. It has been said by us that Heman is a descendant of Korah, and Korah
the grandson of Kohath, of the most honored of the children of Levi, and leader of the order of the Levites, sings a most authoritative song. For he dances for Christ, as the song is also inscribed For the dance; and he sings of the world-saving passions of the savior, bringing in the very person of the Lord in the discourse, as becomes clear from what is said. 143 Ps 87,2 And describing a heavenly way of life for the salvation of men and teaching, whenever evils beset us, to consider God our only refuge, just as we were also taught from the Gospels when the passion was already approaching, that he made continuous supplications and prayers. 144 Ps 87,6 Insisting on the words of the likeness, he says that I have become like those slain and lying in a tomb, who suffer this because they were separated from your life-giving power. For it is clear that this was not so in his case. For the body of Christ was full of the power of God even after death. For this reason both blood and water poured forth from him, whereas from dead bodies nothing of the sort comes forth. 145 Ps 87,9b-10a [Another says, explaining You have made me an abomination to them:] just as the disciples were ashamed at his sufferings, no longer hoping for a savior or a redeemer, who indeed even said that The rulers delivered him to the judgment of death; but we were hoping that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. But it is clear that he was also restrained by the hands of his enemies, handed over willingly, yet still held fast. There indeed he also came to affliction on our behalf; for he bore all things that are grievous and afflictive to the body. For instead of The
