attend, Where night and day free, and untroubled I might beseech you, drawing out for you a life unmixed with evil, And ever lifting up to you a winged mind, O light of life, Until I might complete the final, common road, And come to the abode, the end of toil for the devout. For you I live, to you I speak, for you I sit, O Lord Christ, For you I lift a footstep, since you cover me with your hand; But even now may you lead me to the good end of the journey. 37. Another prayer for a good journey. It is not possible to lift even a footstep without you, O Lord Christ, who are all good things to your mortals, and in all things have been made a straight path. Trusting in you, I also cut this path, but may you send me 521 unharmed, and may you provide all that my heart desires, And may you, O Lord, lead me back again to my poor home, Where night and day I might freely propitiate you. 38. Another prayer for the same purpose. You who led the army by fire and cloud, who found a path 522 in the sea, having fixed the waves for those driven on. And you rained strange bread from heaven for those not expecting it; And from a sharp-cut rock you made a spring gush forth. And now come as a fellow-traveler to your servant who calls, O Christ, light of mortals, bringing all things propitious.

ΛΗʹ. Ἄλλη εἰς ταὐτὸ προσευχή. Ὃς πυρὶ καὶ νεφέλῃ στρατὸν ἤγαγες, ὃς δ' ὁδὸν εὗρες 522 Ἐν πελάγει, πήξας κύματ' ἐλαυνομένοις. Ἄρτον δ' οὐρανόθεν ὕσας ξένον οὐ δοκέουσιν· Ἐκ δὲ πέτρης πηγὴν ἔβλυσας ἀκροτόμου. Καὶ νῦν τῷ θεράποντι συνέμπορος ἐλθὲ καλεῦντι, Χριστὲ, φάος μερόπων, δεξιὰ πάντα φέρων.
