exemplary cause, as the other bed, looking at which the craftsman created the one set before him for work; natural cause, as a father of a son, in which sense also God the Father alone is said to be the cause of the Only-begotten; and of creation we say God is the efficient cause. And the final cause, the benefit of the created things and the goodness concerning them; and the formal cause we say is the knowledge in him of the created things, which he has had from eternity before the ages, not coming to him later, but co-eternalizing, and co-extending always. But the material cause and the instrumental and the paradigmatic are far from the divine and infinitely powerful nature. It must be known that causes are fourfold: as matter; as form; as end, and as efficient; and of causes, some are pre-dispositive, others are cooperative, or concurrent, others are final. Causal. There is also an everlasting that which has no beginning, but has an end. And there is an everlasting that which has neither beginning nor end, just like God. Everlasting is that which cannot be conceived of itself, that is according to essence. Everlasting is said of that which is always going through; that is, that which never began, nor ends. For not everything without end is in every way also without beginning; for the angels and souls had a beginning of being, but do not have an end. Nothing else is everlasting but only the Godhead. Unseen. The invisible. Aesop's blood. Concerning those unjustly killed. For the Delphians did not justly kill Aesop. Everlasting. That which endures forever, and has no end at all. (Verbs.)
