Deem me worthy in the darkness of life, and in this world, in the place of grief, to serve you completely and to worship well and to keep your holy commandments. I thank you, because you have given me to live and to know you and to worship, my God; for this is life, to know you, the only God, creator and maker of all things, unbegotten, uncreated, without beginning, alone, and your Son begotten from you, and the All-Holy Spirit proceeding forth, the all-hymned triadic monad, whom to piously worship and serve (48) is beyond all other glory, whether you say earthly or heavenly. For what glory of angels, or of archangels, dominions, Cherubim, and Seraphim and of all other heavenly hosts exists, or light of immortality or joy or radiance of immaterial life, if not the one light of the Holy Trinity, divided threefold undividedly, which exists as one in three characters, known unknowably, as much as it wishes? For it is not possible for a creature to know the creator in such a way or to see him whole with the mind, as he himself knows himself by nature; but by grace all angels and every created nature see and understand, not comprehending, but understanding, in so far as the light will wish to be known or to appear to the blind or even to those who see at all; for an eye without light does not see, but also receives the ability to see from the light, because by it it was also created. Whether you speak of incorporeal or corporeal, you will find that God has made all things. The things in the heavens, if you should also hear of any, the things on the earth and the things in the abysses, and of all these one life and glory, one desire and one kingdom, wealth, joy, crown, victory, peace
