1.18 (ιη') Blessed is the man, who is attached to no corruptible or temporary thing.
14__178 1.19 (ιθ') Blessed is the mind, which has passed beyond all created things and delights unceasingly in the divine beauty.
1.20 (κ') He who makes provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts and holds a grudge against his neighbor for temporary things, such a one serves the creature rather than the Creator.
1.21 (κα') He who keeps his body free from pleasure and disease, has it as a fellow-servant for the service of higher things.
1.22 (κβ') He who flees all worldly desires, places himself above all worldly grief.
1.23 (κγ') He who loves God also loves his neighbor in every way. Such a one cannot keep money, but manages it in a God-pleasing manner, giving to each one who is in need.
1.24 (κδ') He who gives alms in imitation of God, knows no distinction between evil and good, or just and unjust in the necessities of the body; but distributes to all equally according to their need, even though he prefers the virtuous man to the wicked because of his good disposition.
1.25 (κε') Just as God, being good and dispassionate by nature, loves all equally as His works, but glorifies the virtuous as being akin to Him in disposition, while in His goodness He has mercy on the wicked and in this age disciplines him to convert him; so too the man who is good and dispassionate in disposition loves all men equally, the virtuous for his nature and his good disposition, 14__180 and the wicked for his nature and out of compassion, pitying him as foolish and walking in darkness.
1.26 (κστ') The disposition of love is made known not only by the sharing of money, but much more by the sharing of the word of God and by bodily service.
1.27 (κζ') He who has genuinely renounced the things of the world and serves his neighbor unhypocritically through love, is quickly freed from every passion and becomes a partaker of divine love and knowledge.
1.28 (κη') He who has acquired divine love in himself does not grow weary following after the Lord his God, according to the divine Jeremiah; but bears all toil, reproach, and insult courageously, reckoning evil to no one at all.
1.29 (κθ') When you are insulted by someone or are in some way disparaged, then beware of thoughts of anger, lest, by separating you from love through grief, they establish you in the region of hatred.
1.30 (λ') When you suffer greatly from an insult or dishonor, know that you have been greatly benefited, since vainglory has been providentially cast out from you through the dishonor.
1.31 (λα') Just as the memory of fire does not warm the body, so faith without love does not work the illumination of knowledge in the soul.
1.32 (λβ') Just as the light of the sun draws a healthy eye to itself, so also the knowledge of God naturally draws the pure mind to itself through love.
14__182 1.33 (λγ') The mind is pure, which is separated from ignorance and is illuminated by the divine light.
1.34 (λδ') The soul is pure, which is freed from passions and is unceasingly gladdened by divine love.

1.20 (κ') Ὁ πρόνοιαν τῆς σαρκὸς εἰς ἐπιθυμίας ποιούμενος καὶ μνησικακίαν διὰ πρόσκαιρα πρὸς τὸν πλησίον ἔχων, ὁ τοιοῦτος λατρεύει τῇ κτίσει παρὰ τὸν κτίσαντα.
1.21 (κα') Ὁ ἀνήδονον καὶ ἄνοσον τὸ σῶμα διατηρῶν, σύνδουλον αὐτὸ ἔχει πρὸς τὴν τῶν κρειττόνων ὑπηρεσίαν.
1.22 (κβ') Ὁ φεύγων πάσας τὰς κοσμικὰς ἐπιθυμίας, πάσης κοσμικῆς λύπης ἀνώτερον ἑαυτὸν καθίστησιν.
1.23 (κγ') Ὁ τὸν Θεὸν ἀγαπῶν καὶ τὸν πλησίον πάντως ἀγαπᾷ. Ὁ δὲ τοιοῦτος χρήματα τηρεῖν οὐ δύναται, ἀλλ᾽ οἰκονομεῖ θεοπρεπῶς, ἑκάστῳ τῶν δεομένων παρέχων.
1.24 (κδ') Ὁ κατὰ μίμησιν Θεοῦ τὴν ἐλεημοσύνην ποιούμενος, οὐκ οἶδε διαφορὰν πονηροῦ καὶ ἀγαθοῦ ἢ δικαίου καὶ ἀδίκου ἐν τοῖς τοῦ σώματος ἀναγκαίοις· ἀλλὰ πᾶσιν ἐξ ἴσου κατὰ τὴν χρείαν διανέμει, εἰ καὶ προτιμᾷ διὰ τὴν ἀγαθὴν προαίρεσιν τοῦ φαύλου τὸν ἐνάρετον.
1.25 (κε') Ὥσπερ ὁ Θεὸς φύσει ὢν ἀγαθὸς καὶ ἀπαθὴς πάντας μὲν ἐξ ἴσου ἀγαπᾷ ὡς ἔργα αὐτοῦ, ἀλλὰ τὸν μὲν ἐνάρετον δοξάζει, ὡς καὶ τῇ γνώμῃ οἰκειούμενον, τὸν δὲ φαῦλον δι᾽ ἀγαθότητα ἐλεεῖ καὶ ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τούτῳ παιδεύων ἐπιστρέφει· οὕτω καὶ ὁ τῇ γνώμῃ ἀγαθὸς καὶ ἀπαθὴς πάντας ἀνθρώπους ἐξ ἴσου ἀγαπᾶ, τὸν μὲν ἐνάρετον διά τε τὴν φύσιν καὶ τὴν ἀγαθὴν προαίρεσιν, 14__180 τὸν δὲ φαῦλον διά τε τὴν φύσιν καὶ τὴν συμπάθειαν, ἐλεῶν ὡς ἄφρονα καὶ ἐν σκότει διαπορευόμενον.
1.26 (κστ') Οὐ μόνον διὰ μεταδόσεως χρημάτων ἡ διάθεσις τῆς ἀγάπης γνωρίζεται, ἀλλὰ πολλῷ μᾶλλον διὰ μεταδόσεως λόγου Θεοῦ καὶ σωματικῆς διακονίας.
1.27 (κζ') Ὁ τοῖς τοῦ κόσμου πράγμασι γνησίως ἀποταξάμενος καὶ τῷ πλησίον διὰ τῆς ἀγάπης ἀνυποκρίτως δουλεύων, παντὸς πάθους ταχέως ἐλευθεροῦται καὶ τῆς θείας ἀγάπης καὶ γνώσεως μέτοχος καθίσταται.
1.28 (κη') Ὁ τὴν θείαν ἀγάπην ἐν ἑαυτῷ κτησάμενος οὐ κοπιᾷ κατακολουθῶν ὀπίσω Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ αὐτοῦ, κατὰ τὸν θεῖον Ἱερεμίαν· ἀλλὰ πάντα πόνον ὀνειδισμόν τε καὶ ὕβριν φέρει γενναίως, μηδενὶ τὸ σύνολον κακὸν λογιζόμενος.
1.29 (κθ') Ὅταν ὑβριστῇς παρά τινος ἢ ἔν τινι ἐξουδενωθῇς, τότε πρόσεχε ἀπὸ τῶν λογισμῶν τῆς ὀργῆς, μή σε τῆς ἀγάπης διὰ τῆς λύπης χωρίσαντες ἐν τῇ χώρᾳ τοῦ μίσους καταστήσωσιν.
1.30 (λ') Ὅταν ἐφ᾽ ὕβρει ἢ ἀτιμίᾳ σφόδρα πονήσῃς, γίνωσκε σεαυτὸν μεγάλως ὠφεληθέντα, τῆς κενοδοξίας διὰ τῆς ἀτιμίας οἰκονομικῶς ἀπό σοῦ ἐκβληθείσης.
1.31 (λα') Ὥσπερ μνήμη πυρὸς οὐ θερμαίνει τὸ σῶμα, οὕτω πίστις ἄνευ ἀγάπης οὐκ ἐνεργεῖ εἰς ψυχὴν τὸν τῆς γνώσεως φωτισμόν.
1.32 (λβ') Ὥσπερ τὸ φῶς τοῦ ἡλίου τὸν ὑγιῆ ὀφθαλμὸν πρὸς ἑαυτὸν ἐφέλκεται, οὕτω καὶ ἡ γνῶσις τοῦ Θεοῦ τὸν καθαρὸν νοῦν φυσικῶς διὰ τῆς ἀγάπης πρὸς ἑαυτὸν ἐπισπᾶται.
14__182 1.33 (λγ') Νοῦς ἐστι καθαρός, ὁ ἀγνοίας χωρισθεὶς καὶ ὑπὸ τοῦ θείου φωτὸς καταλαμπόμενος.
1.34 (λδ') Ψυχή ἐστι καθαρά, ἡ παθῶν ἐλευθερωθεῖσα καὶ ὑπὸ τῆς θείας ἀγάπης ἀδιαλείπτως εὐφραινομένη.
