you can happen upon. After the flood, there was again a beginning of cities and of kings in this manner. The first city was Babylon, and Orech and Archath and Chalane in the land of Sennaar. And their king was named Nebroth. From these came one named Assour; whence also the Assyrians are named. And Nebroth built the cities of Nineveh and Roboōm and Kalak and Dasen between Nineveh and between Kalak. And Nineveh became at first a great city. And another son of Sem, son of Noah, named Mestraein, begat the Loudoueim and those called Enemigeim and the Labieim and the Nephthaleim and the Patrosonieim and the Chaslonieim, whence came the Phylistieim. Of the three sons of Noah, then, and of their completion and genealogy, our list was made in summary in the book we mentioned before. And now we will also mention the things that have been left out concerning cities and kings, and of the things that happened when there was one lip and one tongue. Before the dialects were divided, these aforementioned cities came into being. And when they were about to be scattered, they took counsel by their own judgment, and not through God, to build a city and a tower, whose top might reach to heaven, so that they might make for themselves a name of glory. Since, therefore, contrary to the will of God, they dared to do a grievous work, God cast down their city and overthrew the tower. From that time He changed the languages of men, giving to each a different dialect. Sibylla has thus signified, proclaiming that wrath is about to come upon the world. And she spoke thus: But when the threats of the great God are fulfilled, which he once threatened to mortals, when they built a tower in the land of Assyria. And all were of one voice, and they wished to ascend into the starry heaven. But immediately the immortal one laid a great necessity upon the winds; then the winds cast down the great tower from on high and stirred up strife for mortals against each other. But when the tower fell, and the tongues of men were divided into many dialects of mortals. And what follows. These things, then, happened in the land of the Chaldeans. And in the land of Canaan there was a city whose name was Charran. And in those times the first king of Egypt was Pharaoh, who was also named Nechaōth according to the Egyptians; and thus were the successive kings. And in the land of Sennaar, among those called Chaldeans, the first king was Ariōch; and after him another, Ellasar, and after him Chodollagomor, king of Ailam, and after him Thargal, king of the nations called Assyrians. And there were five other cities in the portion of Cham, son of Noah; the first called Sodom, then Gomorrah,
