Adama and Zeboiim and Balak, which was also called Zoar. and the names of their kings are these: Balla king of Sodom, Barsas king of Gomorrah, Sennaar king of Adama, Hymoör king of Zeboiim, Balach king of Zoar, which was also called Balak. These served Chedorlaomer king of the Assyrians for twelve years. But in the thirteenth year they rebelled from Chedorlaomer. And so it was then that the four kings of the Assyrians joined battle against the five kings. This was the first beginning of wars happening on the earth. And they cut down the giants of Karnaim, and strong nations with them, and the Ommaeans in their city, and the Horites in the mountains named Seir as far as the place called the terebinth of Paran, which is in the wilderness. And at the same time there was a righteous king named Melchizedek in the city of Salem, which is now called Jerusalem; he was the first priest of all priests of the most high God. From him the city was named Jerusalem, the aforementioned Hiero-solyma; from him were also found priests being made throughout all the earth. And after him Abimelech reigned in Gerar; and after him another Abimelech; then reigned Ephron, also called the Hittite. So then, the names concerning these kings who existed previously are contained thus; but of the Assyrians, over the many intervening years, the remaining kings were passed over in silence from being recorded; in the latest times according to us, the kings of the Assyrians who existed are recorded: Tiglath-pileser, and after him Shalmaneser, then Sennacherib. And his triarch was Adrammelech the Ethiopian, who also reigned over Egypt; although these things, with respect to our writings, are very recent. From this, therefore, it is for the lovers of learning and antiquity to understand the histories, that the things spoken by us through the holy prophets are not recent. For since the people of that time were few at first in the Arabian and Chaldaean land, after their languages were divided, they began to become many in part and to multiply over all the earth. And some turned to dwell toward the east, and others to the parts of the great continent and toward the north, so as to extend as far as the Britons in the arctic regions, and others the land of Canaan, also called Judaea and Phoenicia, and the parts of Ethiopia and Egypt and Libya and the so-called torrid zone and the regions extending as far as the west, and the rest from the coast and Pamphylia and Asia and Greece and Macedonia and for the remainder Italy and the so-called Gauls and Spains and Germanies, so that thus the whole is now filled with those inhabiting it. Therefore, since the habitation of men upon the earth was threefold in the beginning, in the east and south and west, afterwards the remaining parts of the earth were also inhabited, by the common people
