anger, and from 95.1140 the Lord he seeks healing. For a man like himself he has no mercy, and for his own sins he prays. He, being flesh, maintains wrath; and who will forgive his sins? remember your end, and cease from enmity. Remember the commandments, and be not wroth with your neighbor. If you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you. leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Then Peter came and said: Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times? Jesus said to him: I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. The kingdom of heaven is like a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. And when he had begun to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. But as he was not able to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down and worshiped him, saying: Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and released him, and forgave him the debt. But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me what you owe. So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying: Have patience with me, and I will pay you. But he was unwilling, and went and threw him into prison till he should pay the whole debt. So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their lord all that had been done. Then his lord, after he had called him, said to him: You wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you? And his lord was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay him all that was due to him. So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from your hearts, does not forgive his brother his trespasses. If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns, saying, 'I repent,' you shall forgive him. We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification. For even Christ did not please 95.1141 Himself; but as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me." Repay no one evil for evil, providing for what is good in the sight of the Lord and of men. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. If you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. As we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Putting away lying, let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. Be angry, and do not sin. do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as Christ also forgave us. Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Rebuke those who are sinning in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear. Who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for
