judged for gifts, and her priests gave answers for a price, and her prophets divined for silver, and they leaned upon the Lord, saying, Is not the Lord among us? No evil will come upon us. 2.3.8 Therefore, because of you, Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall be as a lodge in a garden, and the mountain of the house into a grove of the forest. And it shall be in the last of days that the mountain of the Lord shall be manifest, prepared upon the tops of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and peoples shall hasten to it, and many nations shall go and say, Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord and to the house of the God of Jacob, and they will show us his way, and we will walk in his paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” 2.3.9 28. From Zechariah. “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; proclaim, O daughter of Jerusalem. Behold, your king comes to you, just and saving, he is meek and mounted on a beast of burden and a young colt. And he will destroy the chariots from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem, and he will destroy the battle bow. And a multitude of peace from the nations, and he will rule from sea to sea, and from the rivers to the ends of the earth.” 2.3.10 29. From Malachi. “I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord Almighty, and I will not accept a sacrifice from your hands. For from the rising of the sun even to its setting my name has been glorified among the nations, and in every place incense is offered to my name, and a pure sacrifice. For my name is great among the nations, says the Lord Almighty, but you profane it.” 2.3.11 30. From Isaiah. “The daughter of Zion will be left like a booth in a vineyard, and like a lodge in a cucumber field, like a besieged city.” And next he adds: “How the faithful city, Zion, has become a prostitute, in which righteousness lodged, but now murderers?” 2.3.12 And in addition to these things: “For they shall be as a terebinth that has cast off its leaves, and as a garden that has no water. And their strength shall be as the tow of flax, and their works as sparks of fire, and the lawless and the sinners shall be burned up together, and there shall be none to quench it.” 2.3.13 To all these he adds: “And it shall be in the last days that the mountain of the Lord shall be manifest, and the house of God on the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills, and all the nations shall come to it. And many nations shall go and say, Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord and to the house of the God of Jacob, and he will announce to us his way, and we will walk in it. For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem, and he will judge between the nations.” 2.3.14 31. From the same. “Thus says the Lord Sabaoth, and it shall be in the manner that if one should gather an ear of corn in a deep valley, and some stubble should be left in it, or as two or three olive berries on the top of the uppermost bough, or four or five be left on their branches. 2.3.15 Thus says the Lord the God of Israel: in that day a man will trust in the one who made him, and his eyes will look to the Holy One of Israel; and they will not trust in the altars, nor in the works of their hands, which their fingers have made, and they will not look upon the trees, nor their abominations. In that day your cities shall be forsaken, in the manner that the Amorites and the Hivites forsook them from before the sons of Israel, 2.3.16 and they shall be desolate. Because you have forsaken God your savior, and you have not been mindful of the Lord your God. Therefore you shall plant a faithless plant; but in the day that you plant, you shall be led astray.” 2.3.17 32. From the same. “O Lord my God, I will glorify you, I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, an ancient, true counsel. May it be, Lord. For you have made cities into a heap, fortified cities, that their foundations should fall. The city of the ungodly shall never be built. Therefore the people will bless you, the
