him. You shall surely report concerning him; and your hands will be upon him first to kill him, and the hands of all your people afterwards. On account of the impiety of the heart of these nations the Lord will destroy them from before your face; not because of your righteousness, nor because of the piety of your heart, you are entering to inherit their land, but because of the lawlessness of these nations the Lord is destroying them from before your face. 95.1149 You abandoned God who begot you, and you forgot God who nourishes you. Lest a sinner destroy the sinless one, God will surely not be gracious to him; but the wrath of the Lord will be kindled, and his zeal in that man. Destroy these nations from before you, and they will not be for you as snares, and as stumbling blocks, and as nails in your heels, and as darts in your eyes; because you did not listen to the voice of the Lord your God. And it will be, in the manner the Lord rejoiced in you to do you good, so will the Lord rejoice over you, to destroy you. From the lawless will come forth transgression. The word of the Lord came to Baasha saying; Because I exalted you over the land, and made you ruler over my people, and you walked in the way of Jeroboam, and you made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their vanities, behold I will raise up evils after you, and after your house; and I will make your house, like the house of Jeroboam. The one of Baasha who dies in the city, the dogs will devour; and the one who dies in the field, the birds of the sky. The joy of the impious is an extraordinary fall; but the delight of the lawless is destruction. If his gifts ascend to heaven, and their sacrifice touches the clouds; even if he seems to be already established, then he will be utterly destroyed. And those who see him will say: Where is he? Wrath will come upon sinners, and then they will know where their substance is. Those who sow perverse things, will reap pains. And by the command of the Lord they will perish, and by the breath of his wrath they will be made to disappear. Who has stood firm before the face of an impious man? The light of the impious will be extinguished. The faces of the impious will be filled with dishonor. The whole life of an impious man is in anxiety; when he seems to be at peace, his destruction will come. The hope of an impious man will perish; for his house will be uninhabited. And his tent will become a spider's web. The day of wrath comes upon him. The lamp of the impious will be extinguished. But destruction will come to them, and they will be like chaff before the wind. The eyes of the impious will waste away. For their hope is destruction. He who loves injustice, hates his own soul. Sins diminish tribes. Transgressions ensnare a man, and each is bound by the cords of his own sins. 95.1152 One who does evil shall not dwell with you, nor do they remain. The wickedness of sinners will indeed be brought to an end, and you will direct. Break the arm of the sinner and the evil man. His memorial has perished with a sound. He will rain snares upon sinners, fire and brimstone. Many are the scourges of the sinner But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to destroy. The death of sinners is evil, and those who hate the just man. The enemies of the Lord at the same time as they are glorified and exalted. I saw the impious man highly exalted, and lifted up. Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against a nation. Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man of lawlessness? all the day long. Their words were smoother than oil, and they are darts. Sinners are estranged from the womb; they have gone astray. The righteous man will rejoice when he sees vengeance; his hands, etc. Shelter me from the conspiracy of evildoers, from the multitude. As wax melts before the face of fire, so will they perish. The Lord will repay according to their lawlessness; and according to, etc. May sinners cease from the earth, and the lawless. The desire of the sinner will perish. Behold, those who remove themselves far from you, will perish. Salvation is far from sinners, because the ordinances, etc. All the sinners

Ἐγένετο λόγος Κυρίου πρὸς Βασσὰ λέγων· Ἀνθ' ὧν ὕψωσά σε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ ἔδωκά σε ἡγούμενον ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου, καὶ ἐπορεύθης ἐν ὁδῷ Ἱεροβοὰμ, καὶ ἐξήμαρτες τὸν λαόν μου τὸν Ἰσραὴλ, τοῦ παροργίσαι με ἐν τοῖς ματαίοις αὐτῶν, ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐξεγείρω ὀπίσω σου, καὶ ὀπίσω τοῦ οἴκου σου κακά· καὶ δώσω τὸν οἶκόν σου, ὡς τὸν οἶκον Ἱεροβοάμ. Τὸν τεθνηκότα τοῦ Βασσὰ ἐν τῇ πόλει, καταφάγονται οἱ κύνες· καὶ τὸν τεθνηκότα ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ, τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ. Εὐφροσύνη ἀσεβῶν πτῶμα ἐξαίσιον· χαρμονὴ δὲ παρανόμων ἀπώλεια. Ἐὰν ἀνέβη εἰς οὐρανὸν αὐτοῦ τὰ δῶρα, ἡ δὲ θυσία αὐτῶν νεφῶν ἅψηται· κἂν δοκῇ ἤδη κατεστηρίχθαι, τότε εἰς τέλος ἀπολεῖται. Οἱ δὲ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν ἐροῦσι· Ποῦ ἐστιν; Θυμὸς ἐπὶ ἁμαρτωλοὺς ἐπελεύσεται, καὶ τότε γνώσονται ποῦ ἐστιν αὐτῶν ἡ ὕλη. Οἱ σπείροντες τὰ ἄτοπα, ὀδύνας θερίσουσιν. Ἀπὸ δὲ προστάγματος Κυρίου ἀπολοῦνται, ἀπὸ δὲ πνεύματος ὀργῆς αὐτοῦ ἀφανισθήσονται. Πρὸ προσώπου ἀσεβοῦς τίς ἔπηξεν; Φῶς ἀσεβῶν σβεσθήσεται. Πρόσωπα ἀσεβῶν ἀτιμίας ἐμπλησθήσεται. Πᾶς ὁ βίος ἀσεβοῦς ἐν φροντίδι· ὅταν δοκῇ εἰρηνεύειν, ἥξει αὐτοῦ ἡ καταστροφή. Ἐλπὶς ἀσεβοῦς ἀπολεῖται· ἀοίκητος γὰρ αὐτοῦ ἔσται ὁ οἶκος. Ἀράχνη δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀποβήσεται ἡ σκηνή. Ἡμέρα ὀργῆς ἐπέλθῃ αὐτῷ. Ἀσεβῶν λύχνος σβεσθήσεται. Ἐλεύσεται δὲ αὐτοῖς ἡ καταστροφὴ, καὶ ἔσονται ὥσπερ ἄχυρα ἀπὸ ἀνέμου. Ὀφθαλμοὶ ἀσεβῶν τακήσονται. Ἡ γὰρ ἐλπὶς αὐτῶν ἀπώλεια. Ὁ ἀγαπῶν τὴν ἀδικίαν, μισεῖ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ψυχήν. Ἐλασσονοῦσι φυλὰς ἁμαρτίαι. Παρανομίαι ἄνδρα ἀγρεύουσι, σειραῖς δὲ τῶν ἑαυτῶν ἁμαρτιῶν ἕκαστος σφίγγεται. 95.1152 Οὐ παροικήσει σοι πονηρευόμενος, οὐδὲ διαμένουσι. Συντελεσθήσεται δὴ πονηρία ἁμαρτωλῶν, καὶ κατευθυνεῖς. Σύντριψον τὸν βραχίονα τοῦ ἁμαρτωλοῦ καὶ τοῦ πονηροῦ. Ἀπώλετο τὸ μνημόσυνον αὐτοῦ μετ' ἤχου. Ἐπιβρέξει ἐπὶ ἁμαρτωλοὺς παγίδας, πῦρ καὶ θεῖον. Πολλαὶ αἱ μάστιγες τοῦ ἁμαρτωλοῦ Πρόσωπον δὲ Κυρίου ἐπὶ ποιοῦντας κακὰ, τοῦ ἐξολοθρεῦσαι. Θάνατος ἁμαρτωλῶν πονηρὸς, καὶ οἱ μισοῦντες τὸν δίκαιον. Οἱ ἐχθροὶ Κυρίου ἅμα τοῦ δοξασθῆναι αὐτοὺς καὶ ὑψωθῆναι. Εἶδον τὸν ἀσεβῆ ὑπερυψούμενον, καὶ ἐπαιρόμενον. Κρῖνόν με ὁ Θεὸς, καὶ δίκασον τὴν δίκην μου ἐξ ἔθνους. Τί ἐγκαυχᾷ ἐν κακίᾳ, ὁ δυνατὸς ἀνομίαν; ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν. Ἡπαλύνθησαν οἱ λόγοι αὐτῶν ὑπὲρ ἔλαιον, καὶ αὐτοί εἰσι βολίδες. Ἀπηλλοτριώθησαν οἱ ἁμαρτωλοὶ ἀπὸ μήτρας· ἐπλανήθησαν. Εὐφρανθήσεται δίκαιος, ὅταν ἴδῃ ἐκδίκησιν· τὰς χεῖρας, κ. τ. λ. Σκέπασόν με ἀπὸ συστροφῆς πονηρευομένων, ἀπὸ πλήθους. Ὡς τήκεται κηρὸς ἀπὸ προσώπου πυρὸς, οὕτως ἀπολοῦνται. Ἀνταποδώσει Κύριος κατὰ τὴν ἀνομίαν αὐτῶν· καὶ κατὰ, κ. τ. λ. Ἐκλίποιεν ἁμαρτωλοὶ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς, καὶ ἄνομοι. Ἐπιθυμία ἁμαρτωλοῦ ἀπολεῖται. Ἰδοὺ οἱ μακρύνοντες ἑαυτοὺς ἀπὸ σοῦ, ἀπολοῦνται. Μακρὰν ἀπὸ ἁμαρτωλῶν σωτηρία, ὅτι τὰ δικαιώματα, κ. τ. λ. Πάντας τοὺς ἁμαρτωλοὺς
