will utterly destroy. Evils will pursue sinners. The ways of the ungodly will perish. The ways of the ungodly are dark, and they do not know how they stumble. Evil offspring have swords for teeth, and blades for jawbones, so as to consume the humble of the earth. The destruction of the ungodly becomes ready and a cause for rejoicing. Wherever an ungodly man enters, he disappears. The Lord will overturn the fruits of the ungodly. The ungodly man does unjust works. 95.1153 Untimely grief covers the mouth of the ungodly. The ruin of the ungodly is poverty. When a storm rages, the ungodly man disappears. The persecutions of the ungodly lead to death. The lamp of the ungodly is sin. The works of the ungodly are far from knowledge. The ungodly man does works of injustice. The ungodly man is kept for an evil day. The unjust will perish swiftly. To show regard for the face of an ungodly man is not good. The ungodly flees when no one pursues. The tongue of the unjust will be destroyed. The ungodly will not have confidence. The sacrifice of the ungodly is an abomination to the Lord. The way of evil, and the foot of the lawless, will perish in an evil day. The ways of the ungodly are an abomination to the Lord. Because they wronged infants, they will be slain. The soul of the ungodly will not be pitied by any man. As unripe grapes are harmful to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes, so is lawlessness to those who practice it. The curse of the Lord is in the houses of the ungodly. The houses of the ungodly will be made to disappear. God is far from sinners. Every lawless person is unclean before the Lord. Woe to them, because they have fled from me; they are wretched, because they have acted impiously against me. An end will come upon the ungodly. The ungodly will become weak, and I will remove the lawless from the face of the earth, says the Lord. Hear, O heaven, and give ear, O earth, for the Lord has spoken. They will be like a terebinth that has shed its leaves, and like a garden that has no water. And their strength will be like the tow of flax, and their work like sparks of fire. And the lawless and the sinners will be burned together, and there will be no one to quench it. A city of the ungodly will never be built for eternity. I will command evils upon the world, and upon the ungodly their sins. An evil seed shall not remain for all time. Behold, the day of the Lord is coming with wrath and 95.1156 anger, to make the whole world desolate, and to destroy the sinners from it. The land of the ungodly will fall. Trembling will seize the ungodly. Let the ungodly be taken away, that he may not see the glory of the Lord. There is no rejoicing for the ungodly, says the Lord. If you depart from me, you will have something more, said the Lord. The lawless man who sacrifices a calf is like one who kills a dog; and he who offers fine flour is like one who offers swine's blood. Woe to the lawless man, evil according to the works of his hands will be given to him. The wealth of the ungodly will be like dust from a wheel, and like chaff carried away. And it will be like an instant. And the wealth of the nations will be like one dreaming in his sleep, and they will be like those who in sleep are hungry and eat, and when they awake their dream is in vain; and as a thirsty man dreams as though he were hungry, and when he awakes he is still thirsty, and his soul has hoped in vain, so shall be the wealth of all the nations. The Lord said to me: Do not pray for this people, for if Moses and Samuel stood before my face, my soul would not be with them. Their worm shall not die, and the fire shall not be quenched; and they shall be a sight to all flesh. Shall a bride forget her adornment, and a virgin her breastband? But my people have forgotten me, for days without number. Thus says the Lord: They shall build, but I will destroy. Hateful in equal measure are both the ungodly and his ungodliness; the thing done along with the one who did it will be utterly destroyed. The hope of the ungodly is like chaff carried by the wind, and like smoke dispersed by the wind. The ends of an unjust generation are grievous. Vain indeed are all men, in whom there was ignorance of God, and from the good things that are seen they were not able to know him who is, nor by attending to the works did they recognize the artificer. Wretched, and among the dead are their hopes. Upon the ungodly until the end a merciless wrath has come. In the congregation of sinners a fire will be kindled. Ἡ γῆ τῶν ἀσεβῶν πεσεῖται. Τρόμος λήψεται τοὺς ἀσεβεῖς. Ἀρθήτω ὁ ἀσεβὴς, ἵνα μὴ ἴδῃ τὴν δόξαν Κυρίου. Οὐκ ἔστι χαίρειν τοῖς ἀσεβέσι, λέγει Κύριος. Ἐὰν ἀπ' ἐμοῦ ἀποστῇς, πλέον τι ἕξεις, εἶπεν ὁ Κύριος. Ὁ ἄνομος θύων μόσχον, ὡς ἀποκτείνων κύνα· ὁ δὲ ἀναφέρων σεμίδαλιν, ὡς αἷμα ὑῶν. Οὐαὶ τῷ ἀνόμῳ, πονηρὰ κατὰ τὰ ἔργα τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ δοθήσεται αὐτῷ. Ἔσται ὡς κονιορτὸς ἀπὸ τροχοῦ ὁ πλοῦτος τῶν ἀσεβῶν, καὶ ὡς χνοῦς φερόμενος. Καὶ ἔσται ὡς στιγμή. Καὶ ἔσται ὡς ἐνυπνιαζόμενος καθ' ὕπνον, ὁ πλοῦτος τῶν ἐθνῶν, καὶ ἔσονται ὡς οἱ ἐν ὕπνῳ πεινῶντες καὶ ἐσθίοντες, καὶ ἐξαναστάντων αὐτῶν μάταιον τὸ ἐνύπνιον αὐτῶν· καὶ ὃν τρόπον ἐνυπνιάζεται ὁ διψῶν ὡς πεινῶν, καὶ ἐξαναστὰς ἔτι διψᾷ, ἡ δὲ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ εἰς κενὸν ἤλπισεν, οὕτως ἔσται ὁ πλοῦτος πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν. Εἶπεν Κύριος πρός με· Μὴ προσεύξῃ περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου, ὅτι ἐὰν στῇ Μωϋσῆς καὶ Σαμουὴλ πρὸ προσώπου μου, οὐκ ἔσται ἡ ψυχή μου πρὸς αὐτούς. Ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ τελευτήσει, καὶ τὸ πῦρ οὐ σβεσθήσεται· καὶ ἔσονται εἰς ὅρασιν πάσῃ σαρκί. Μὴ ἐπιλήσεται νύμφη τὸν κόσμον αὐτῆς, καὶ παρθένος τὴν στηθοδεσμίδα αὐτῆς; ὁ δὲ λαός μου ἐπελάθετό μου, ἡμέρας ὧν οὐκ ἔστιν ἀριθμός. Τάδε λέγει Κύριος· Αὐτοὶ οἰκοδομήσουσιν, ἐγὼ δὲ καταστρέψω. Ἐν ἴσῳ μισητὰ, καὶ ὁ ἀσεβῶν, καὶ ἡ ἀσέβεια· τὸ πραχθὲν σὺν τῷ δράσαντι ἐξολοθρευθήσεται. Ἐλπὶς ἀσεβῶν ὡς φερόμενος χνοῦς ὑπὸ ἀνέμου, καὶ ὡς καπνὸς ἀπὸ ἀνέμου διεχύθη. Γενεᾶς ἀδίκου χαλεπὰ τὰ τέλη. Μάταιοι μὲν πάντες ἄνθρωποι, οἷς παρῆν Θεοῦ ἀγνωσία, καὶ ἐκ τῶν ὁρωμένων ἀγαθῶν οὐκ ἴσχυσαν εἰδέναι τὰ ὄντα, οὔτε τοῖς ἔργοις προσέχοντες ἐπέγνωσαν τὸν τεχνίτην.
