The annual commemoration of Constantine the Great and the dedication of the erected precious crosses in the new palace of Bonus.

Some days beforehand, as many as the lords command, a `prokenson` is made in the new palace of Bonus, and on the eve the all-night vigil for the precious and holy crosses is celebrated privately. And on the day itself, around the second hour, the lords put on their pointed `skaramangia` and their swords, and they ride on horseback from there, and they go to the Holy Apostles by the road leading to Saint John at the Xerokepion, and there, dismounting from their horses, they enter through the great gate of the bath into the narthex, and they turn left towards the east of the said narthex at the curtain hanging there. For there also the imperial seats stand and their changes of clothing have been prepared, and they change both their `divetesia` and their `chlamydes`, 533 and they enter the church of the Holy Apostles, and before the holy doors with a threefold prostration with candles they give thanks to God, and they turn left towards the east of the said bema, and they go to the tombs, that is, to Saint Constantine. And there inside the entrance gate the patriarch receives them, and again at the bema there with a threefold prostration with candles they give thanks to God, and the patriarch gives a censer to the first emperor, and he censes both the holy bema and the tomb of Leo the orthodox lord and of the holy and empress Theophano and of Basil the orthodox and good emperor, and then likewise to that of the first and great Constantine, the holy and glorious emperor. And after this the emperor returns with the patriarch, and the patriarch enters the bema, saying the prayer, and the chanters begin the troparion: "Having beheld the figure of Your cross in heaven." The emperor, having saluted the patriarch, kisses him, and they form a procession with the `magistroi` and the `patrikioi` and the rest of the senate, he passes through the open-air gallery of the conch of All Saints and the road leading from there, and enters the courtyard of the palaces, and 534 with seats being placed that are carried by the `archontogennemata`, 534 they sit down, until the patriarch should arrive with the ecclesiastical litany. It is to be known that the litany, until it enters the gate of the said palaces, chants the troparion: "Having beheld the figure of Your cross in heaven;" and after entering the gate it begins to chant for the dedication, that is, "Glory to You, Christ God, the boast of the apostles." And indeed, when the patriarch has approached the place, in which the lords are seated, the lords, rising up, receive him. And immediately the service of the dedication is celebrated, as is customary in the ecclesiastical order, and when the openings have been completed, the lords enter with the patriarch, and they go to the bema of Saint Constantine; (for of the bemas there, one belongs to Saint Helena, and the other, in which is also the silver ciborium, happens to be that of Saint Constantine;) and there with a threefold prostration with candles they give thanks to God, and returning from the left they ascend the steps, and they stand before the great cross of Saint Constantine, awaiting the reading of the holy Gospel, and the dismissal of the ectene, they go up into the palace there, 535 and after the dismissal of the liturgy they dine with the patriarch and the senate and the metropolitans, whom they may command. Chapter 7. What things must be observed at the feast and procession of All Saints. It is to be known that the procession of All Saints is performed according to the rite of Mid-Pentecost, and as is now performed both the Monday of Renewal Week and the Sunday of Antipascha. The lords dismount from their horses at the gate of the Holy Apostles that leads to the horologion of the same church, and from there, being guided by the `kouboukleion` and the customary officials, they turn right, and they pass through the narthex of All Saints, and they go up into the catechumena of the same church, and they enter inside the curtain hanging there, and the rest is performed just as in the other processions, in which the lords go on horseback to the Holy Apostles. But the
