σελλία. κἀκεῖσε μικρόν τι καθεζόμενοι, ἕως ἂν ὑπὸ τοῦ πραιποσίτου πάντα καλῶς εὐτρεπισθῶσιν, (ἐκνικᾷ γὰρ τὸ καθῆσαι τοὺς δεσπό
546 τας,) ἐξέρχεται ὁ πραιπόσιτος μετὰ καὶ τοῦ τῆς καταστάσεως πρὸς τὸ εὐτρεπίσαι τούς τε ἀσηκρήτας καὶ πάντα, ὅσα ἡ συνήθεια
ἔχει. ἄνω γὰρ τῶν γραδηλίων μέχρι τοῦ τελευταίου τίθεται ἐπεύχιον, ἐν ᾧ ἵστανται οἱ δεσπόται· ἔνθεν δὲ κἀκεῖσε, ἤγουν δεξιὰ
καὶ ἀριστερὰ, ἤγουν ἀπὸ τοῦ πρώτου γραδηλίου μέχρι τοῦ τελευταίου, ἵστανται στιχηδὸν οἵ τε ἀσηκρῆται καὶ νοτάριοι μέλλοντες
ἐκλαβέσθαι τὰ ὑπὸ τοῦ βασιλέως δημηγορούμενα· ἄνω δὲ εἰς τὸ πρῶτον γραδήλιον ἐν τῷ πρὸς ἀνατολὰς δεξιῷ μέρει ἵστανται ὅ,τε
λογοθέτης καὶ πρῶτος ἀσηκρήτης καὶ ὁ πρωτονοτάριος. ἰστέον, ὅτι, τῶν δεσποτῶν καθεζομένων, παρίστανται οἵ τε τοῦ κουβουκλείου
πάντες καὶ οἱ τοῦ μαγλαβίου καὶ τῆς ἑταιρείας ἅμα καὶ τῶν χρυσοτρικλινιτῶν. ὅτε δὲ πάντα καλῶς εὐτρεπισθῶσιν, εἰσέρχεται ὁ
πραιπόσιτος, καὶ προσκυνεῖ, σχηματοειδῶς πως τὴν κεφαλὴν ὑποκλίνων καὶ ταῖς χερσὶ μετρίως κουφίζων τὸ ἑαυτοῦ σαγίον, καὶ εὐθέως
ἀνίστανται οἱ δεσπόται, καὶ ἐξερχόμενοι ἔξω τοῦ καγκέλλου ἵστανται ἄνω εἰς τὸ πρῶτον γραδήλιον, ἐν ᾧ καὶ τὸ ἐπεύχιον ἥπλωται,
