In these, the things concerning the coming of Christ to humanity are clearly prophesied; and at leisure each word might receive a more precise clarification. Ps. Of Obadiah. 15. The vision of Obadiah; Thus says the Lord God to Idumea, I have heard a report from the Lord, and he has sent forth a message to the nations. Since here also the Lord God 116 heard a report from the Lord, we have fittingly noted the passage. Ps. From Jonah. -10. We have not found a partial prophecy specifically about Christ in the present text; but since to the generation that asked the Savior for a sign he said that no other would be given to it than the sign of Jonah the prophet, adding, for just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so also will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights; for this reason, therefore, we have necessarily also noted this scripture among the testimonies concerning Christ. Ps. From Micah. 17. For, behold, the Lord, the Lord, comes forth from his place, and he will come down, and he will tread upon the high places of the earth, and the mountains will be shaken from beneath him, and the valleys will melt like wax before the face of fire. We have supposed these things to be said concerning the second coming of Christ. Ps. Of the same. 18. Hear these things, you rulers of the house of Jacob, and you remnant of the house of Israel, who abhor judgment, and pervert all that is right, who build Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquities, her leaders judged for gifts, and her priests 117 gave answers for a price, and her prophets divined for silver, and they rested upon the Lord, saying, Is not the Lord among us? No evil shall come upon us; therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall be as a watch-tower for fruit, and the mountain of the house as a grove of the forest. And it shall be in the last of days that the mountain of the Lord shall be manifest, established on the tops of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills; and peoples will come to it, and many nations will go to it and say, Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and they will show us his way, and we will walk in his paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem, and he shall judge between many peoples, and he will rebuke a strong nation even afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into sickles; and nation shall no longer lift up sword against nation, and they shall no longer learn to war. The word having said that, on account of the impieties of the Jewish people, Mount Zion will be plowed as a field, and the formerly esteemed holy city Jerusalem will be as a watch-tower for fruit, next prophesies concerning another mountain of the Lord, which at the time of the prophecy did indeed exist, but was not manifest to ordinary people, as it was to be revealed in the last of days and to be exalted above the hills and the mountains; and the word foretells that to this new mountain will come, no longer that Israel, but peoples and many nations, saying, Come and let us go up to 118 the mountain of the Lord; and not only to the mountain of the Lord, but also to the house of the God of Jacob, being clearly another besides the one in Jerusalem; for it had said a little before that this city, having been made desolate, would become as a watch-tower for fruit; and, consistently with Mount Zion and Jerusalem being desolated, and others being seen in their place, it is said that another law, besides that given by Moses from Mount Horeb, will go forth from the new mountain, it too being named Zion, homonymously with the former; and further, a word of the Lord, along with the new law, is said to come forth from the new Jerusalem, which it called above the house of the God of Jacob; the word, having gone forth to all the nations, is foretold to judge between many peoples and to rebuke a strong nation, and to benefit so much through its own judgment and rebuke those who are rebuked, as of the
