Ὅσα δεῖ παραφυλάττειν, τῶν τιμίων σταυρῶν μελλόντων ἐξιέναι τῇ μέσῃ ἑβδομάδι τῆς ἁγίας τεσσαρακοστῆς. Ἰστέον, ὅτι τῇ τρίτῃ κυριακῇ τῆς ἁγίας μʹ, ἤγουν ἀπὸ τῆς ὀρθοδοξίας, μετὰ τρίτην ἢ καὶ ἕκτην ᾠδὴν τοῦ ὄρθρου, ἐξάγονται οἱ τίμιοι καὶ ζωοποιοὶ τρεῖς σταυροὶ, καὶ ἀποτίθενται ἐν τῷ σκευοφυλακίῳ, καὶ εἶθ' οὕτως ὑπὸ τοῦ πρωτοπάπα βαλσαμιζόμενοι προτίθενται ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ εἰς προσκύνησιν πάντων, καὶ μετὰ τὴν ἀπόλυσιν τοῦ ὄρθρου ἀνοίγει τὸ τῆς νέας ἀναβάσιον, καὶ ἀνέρχεται ὁ τῆς νέας κλῆρος καὶ ἅμα τοῦ βασιλείου κλήρου τοῦ παλατίου παρίστανται ψάλλοντες τὰ συνήθη σταυρώσιμα. καὶ ὅτε κελεύουσιν οἱ δεσπόται, εἰσέρχονται καὶ ἀσπάζονται τοὺς τιμίους καὶ ζωοποιοὺς σταυρούς. εἰθ' οὕτως ἀπερχόμενοι καθέζονται ἐπὶ τοῦ χρυσοτρικλίνου εἰς τὴν συνήθη καὶ καθημερινὴν προέλευσιν. καὶ ὁ μὲν εἷς αἰρόμενος ὑπὸ τοῦ διάκονος τῆς νέας καὶ ὀψικευόμενος ὑπὸ τοῦ ταύτης κλήρου, κατέρχεται καὶ προτίθεται ἐν τῇ αὐτῇ νέᾳ ἐκκλησίᾳ. ὁ δὲ ἕτερος αἰρόμενος καὶ βασταζόμενος ὑπὸ τοῦ παπίου τοῦ μεγάλου παλατίου, φοροῦντος αὐτοῦ σκαραμάγγιον καὶ σαγίον ἀληθινὸν, ὀψικευόμενος ὑπὸ τοῦ βασιλείου κλήρου καὶ τοῦ πρωτοπάπα τῆς 550 ∆άφνης τοῦ ἁγίου Στεφάνου καὶ διαιταρίων τοῦ παλατίου, πάντων κηροὺς βασταζόντων, διέρχεται διά τε τοῦ ἡλιακοῦ καὶ τοῦ χρυσοτρικλίνου, καὶ ἀπαγόμενος προτίθεται εἰς προσκύνησιν πάσης τῆς συγκλήτου ἐν τῷ λαυσιακῷ ἐν τῷ ἀριστερῷ μέρει πρὸ τῆς πύλης τοῦ εὐκτηρίου τοῦ ἁγίου Βασιλείου, καὶ μετὰ τὴν προσκύνησιν πάλιν βαστάζεται παρὰ τοῦ παπίου, δηλονότι
