Εἰκότως οὖν ἡ ἐπαρθεῖσα καὶ ὑψωθεῖσα κατὰ τῆς γνώσεως τοῦ Θεοῦ ἀδικία αὐτοῦ καθαιρουμένη ἐπὶ τὴν κορυ φὴν αὐτοῦ καταβήσεται. ΨΑΛΜΟΣ Ηʹ. Εἰς τὸ τέλος ὑπὲρ τῶν ληνῶν ψαλμὸς τῷ ∆αυΐδ, κ. τ. ἑ. Καὶ ἐν τῷ πʹ καὶ πγʹ ψαλμῷ 12.1184 τὴν, «Ὑπὲρ τῶν ληνῶν,» εὑρήσεις ἐπιγραφήν. Πρὸς δὲ ταῦτα λάβωμεν τὰ περὶ Νῶε φυτεύοντος ἄμπελον, τήν τε περὶ τοῦ Ἰούδα παρὰ Ἰακὼβ εὐλογίαν, «δεσμεύων πρὸς ἄμπελον τὸν πῶλον αὐτοῦ·» καὶ τὴν Ἰσσάχαρ, ὃς, ἰδὼν τὴν ἀνάπαυσιν, ὅτι καλὴ, καὶ τὴν γῆν, ὅτι πίων, ὑπέθηκε τὸν ὦμον εἰς τὸ πο νεῖν, καὶ ἐγενήθη ἀνὴρ γεωργός. Καὶ μὴν Ὀζίας γεωργὸς ἦν, ἀμπελουργοὺς ἔχων ἐν τῇ ὀρεινῇ. Καὶ ἡ γυνὴ δὲ παντὸς δικαίου «ὡς ἄμπελός ἐστιν εὐθη νοῦσα ἐν τοῖς κλίτεσι τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ,» ᾧ γίνεται οἶνος εὐφραίνων καρδίαν ἀνθρώπου. Καὶ ὁ Ἐκκλη σιαστὴς ἐφύτευσεν ἀμπελῶνας, ὤρυξε ληνόν. Καὶ ὁ Σολομῶν φησιν· «Οἴνῳ δὲ αἱ ληνοί σου ἐκβλύζω σιν.» Τοῦ αὐτοῦ. Ληνοί εἰσι φύσεις λογικαὶ, τοὺς ἐκ τῆς πνευματικῆς ἀμπέλου καρποὺς ὑποδεξά μεναι. Ἐκ στόματος νηπίων καὶ θηλαζόντων κατηρ τίσω αἶνον, κ. τ. ἑ. Ἐν τῷ κατὰ Ματθαῖον πρότερον μὲν οἱ προάγοντες τὸν Σωτῆρα, ἀλλὰ καὶ οἱ ἀκολουθοῦντες αὐτῷ «ἔκραζον λέγοντες· Ὡσαννὰ τῷ υἱῷ ∆αυῒδ, εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου, ὡσαννὰ ἐν τοῖς ὑψίστοις·» ὀλίγον δὲ ὕστερον γέγραπται, ὅτι ἰδόντες οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμμα τεῖς τὰ θαυμάσια ἃ ἐποίησε, καὶ τοὺς παῖδας κράζον τας ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ καὶ λέγοντας, «Ὡσαννὰ τῷ υἱῷ ∆αυῒδ,» ἠγανάκτησαν, καὶ εἶπον αὐτῷ· «Ἀκούεις τί οὗτοι λέγουσιν; Ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτοῖς· Ναί. Οὐδέποτε ἀνέγνωτε, ὅτι ἐκ στόματος νηπίων καὶ θη λαζόντων,» καὶ τὰ λοιπά. Ἔοικεν οὖν ὁ Ματθαῖος τοὺς αὐτοὺς ὄχλους λέγειν παῖδας, καὶ ὁ Σωτὴρ οὐχ ἁπλῶς παῖδας, ἀλλὰ καὶ νηπίους καὶ θηλάζοντας, διδάσκων ἡμᾶς δι' ὧν ἐξέθετο ῥητῶν τοῦ ψαλμοῦ μετὰ ἀλληγορίας, ἀλληγορεῖν καὶ τὸν ψαλμόν. Ζη τήσεις δὲ πότερον ταυτόν ἐστιν οἶκος ∆αυῒδ, καὶ υἱὸς ∆αυΐδ. Καὶ εἰ μὴ ταυτόν ἐστιν, ἡμάρτηται τὸ κατὰ Ματθαῖον γραφικῶς, ὀφεῖλον ἔχειν ἤτοι δὶς τῷ οἴκῳ ∆αυῒδ, ἤτοι τῷ υἱῷ ∆αυΐδ. Ἕνεκα τῶν ἐχθρῶν σου, τοῦ καταλῦσαι ἐχθρὸν καὶ ἐκδικητὴν, κ. τ. ἑ. Ἐχθρὸν καὶ ἐκδικητὴν, τὸν ἀληθινὸν νόει Ναβουχοδονόσορ. Τὸν διάβολον κατ έλυσεν ὁ Χριστὸς δι' ἁλιέων καὶ ἀγραμμάτων καὶ τῇ κακίᾳ νηπιαζόντων. Ὅτι ὄψομαι τοὺς οὐρανοὺς ἔργα τῶν δακτύλων σου, σελήνην καὶ ἀστέρας, ἃ σὺ ἐθεμελίωσας, κ. τ. ἑ. «Ὅτι ὄψομαι τοὺς οὐρανούς.» Τοῦτο τὸ πρᾶγμα σαφῶς ἐπιστάμεθα, ὅτε καὶ τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὴν αἰτίαν γινώσκομεν. «Ἔργα τῶν δακτύλων σου.» Ζητήσεις εἰ ἕτερά ἐστι τὰ ἔργα τῶν δακτύλων τοῦ Θεοῦ πρὸς τὰ ἔργα τῶν ὅλων χειρῶν αὐτοῦ, εἰ ἐν μέρει ἐστὶ τὰ πρότερα τῶν δευτέρων. «Σελήνην καὶ ἀστέρας, ἃ σὺ ἐθεμελίωσας.» ∆ιὰ τί ἥλιον οὐκ ὠνόμασεν; Μήποτε ὅτε μὲν εἰσάγεταί τις, πρῶτα 12.1185 συνίησι τὰ τῆς νυκτὸς, ὕστερον δέ ποτε τὰ τῆς ἡμέ ρας. Τί ἐστιν ἄνθρωπος, ὅτι μιμνήσκῃ αὐτοῦ; ἢ υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου, ὅτι ἐπισκέπτῃ αὐτὸν, κ. τ. ἑ. Εἰ θαυ μάζων, ὅτι μιμνήσκεται Κύριος τοῦ ἀνθρώπου, καὶ ὅτι ἐπισκέπτεται υἱὸν ἀνθρώπου, ταῦτά φησι, δῆλον, ὅτι εὐεργετῶν ἐπισκέπτεται. Τοῦτο δὲ σημει ώσῃ διὰ τὸ, «Ἐπισκέψομαι ἐν ῥάβδῳ τὰς ἀνομίας αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐν μάστιξι τὰς ἀδικίας αὐτῶν,» καὶ διὰ τὸ, «Οὐκ ἐπισκέψομαι ἐπὶ τὰς θυγατέρας ὑμῶν, ὅταν πορνεύωσι, καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς νύμφας ὑμῶν, ὅταν μοιχεύωσι,» καὶ τὰ ὅμοια. Ἠλάττωσας αὐτὸν βραχύ τι παρ' ἀγγέλους, κ. τ. ἑ. Καὶ αὐτὸς γάρ σου γνῶσιν ἔχειν πεφυκὼς, οὐκ ἀπολείπεται λίαν. Ὁμοιοῦται γάρ σοι, κατὰ τὸ δυνατὸν, ἁγιότητος καὶ ἀρετῆς ἀναλήψει. Καὶ διὰ τὴν εἰκόνα καὶ τὴν ὁμοίωσιν τὴν τῶν θνητῶν αὐτῷ ζώων προστασίαν ἀπένειμας. Ταύτας εἰρῆσθαι περὶ Χρι στοῦ τὰς λέξεις ὁ Παῦλος Ἑβραίοις φησί. Λέγει γάρ· «Τὸν
