let us hold fast to all the things given to us by the philanthropy of God. 8.25 And especially you who have newly put on Christ and have received the coming of the Spirit, each day, I beseech you, examine the brightness of your garment so that it might nowhere receive a spot or wrinkle, not through untimely words, not through vain hearing, not through evil thoughts, not through eyes simply and at random leaping upon those they meet. From every side, therefore, let us all fortify ourselves with the continual remembrance of that dreadful day so that, having remained in brightness and having kept the garment of incorruptibility unspotted and unstained, we may be deemed worthy of those ineffable gifts; of which may it be that we all attain by the grace and philanthropy of our Lord Jesus Christ, with whom to the Father, together with the Holy Spirit, be glory, power, honor; now and always and unto the ages of ages. κατέχωμεν τὰ δωρηθέντα ἡμῖν ἅπαντα παρὰ τῆς τοῦ Θεοῦ φιλανθρωπίας. 8.25 Καὶ μάλιστα ὑμεῖς οἱ νεωστὶ τὸν Χριστὸν ἐνδυσάμενοι καὶ τοῦ Πνεύματος τὴν ἐπιφοίτησιν ὑποδεξάμενοι, καθ' ἑκάστην ἡμέραν, παρακαλῶ, ὑμῶν περισκοπεῖτε τοῦ ἐνδύματος τὴν φαιδρότητα ὥστε μηδαμοῦ σπίλον ἢ ῥυτίδα δέξασθαι, μὴ διὰ λόγων ἀκαίρων, μὴ δι' ἀκοῆς ματαίας, μὴ διὰ λογισμῶν πονηρῶν, μὴ δι' ὀφθαλμῶν ἁπλῶς καὶ εἰκῇ τοῖς προστυγχάνουσιν ἐπιπηδώντων. Πανταχόθεν τοίνυν ἑαυτοὺς ἅπαντας τειχίζωμεν τῇ διηνεκεῖ μνήμῃ τῆς φοβερᾶς ἐκείνης ἡμέρας ἵνα ἐν φαιδρότητι διαμείναντες καὶ τὸ τῆς ἀφθαρσίας ἔνδυμα ἄσπιλον καὶ ἀκηλίδωτον διαφυλάξαντες τῶν ἀπορρήτων ἐκείνων ἀξιωθῶμεν δωρεῶν· ὧν γένοιτο πάντας ἡμᾶς ἐπιτυχεῖν χάριτι καὶ φιλανθρωπίᾳ τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, μεθ' οὗ τῷ Πατρὶ ἅμα τῷ ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι δόξα, κράτος, τιμή· νῦν καὶ ἀεὶ καὶ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων.
