showing the sick man saying: "How did you receive this man? And who is it that brought him here? This is the one who conspired with those who slander me. This is the one who hid the icon of the miracle." And the cleric, having risen, related what he had seen, saying that it happened to be among the impossible things for this man to be healed of the scourge. And on that same night, Eutychianus, as if led into sleep by his pains, sees a certain young eunuch dressed in a splendid tunic with a purple border, saying to him: "What is the matter with you?" And when he said, "I am dying, wasting away and not receiving healing," he heard him say, "No one is able to help you; for the emperor is terribly angry with you." This man begged and says: "Whom shall I move or what shall I do?" And he says: "If you wish to be relieved, go quickly to the Helenian baths and rest near the icon of the Arian who was burned." Immediately, having woken up, he called one of the servants. And they were astonished; for he had been held by speechlessness for three days already having passed. And he says to them, he ordered them to take him away according to what was commanded. And having reached the place and being placed before the icon, he expired; for the one who appeared spoke the truth, proclaiming the separation of the soul from the body as a freedom of release. From Saint Anastasius of the holy Mount Sinai: Four miles from Damascus there is a village called Karsatas; in which village there is a church of Saint Theodore. Saracens, having entered this church, took up residence, creating every kind of filth and uncleanness from women and children and beasts. On one of the days, therefore, as many of them were sitting and conversing, one of them shot an arrow at the icon of Saint Theodore and struck his right shoulder, and immediately blood came out and flowed down to the bottom of the icon, with everyone witnessing the sign that had occurred, both the arrow fixed in the shoulder of the saint and the blood flowing down. And yet, having seen such a wondrous sign occur, they did not come to their senses; the one who shot the arrow did not repent, not one of them was troubled, they did not depart from the church, they did not cease from defiling it. And indeed they suffered the ultimate punishment. For there being twenty-four households of those dwelling in the church, within a few days all were wiped out by a bitter death, with none of these dying in the same village except for those dwelling in the church in those same days. This icon, therefore, which was shot with an arrow, still survives, having both the wound from the arrow and the mark of the blood. And many of those who saw and were present then, when this wonder occurred, are alive. And I too, having seen his icon, and having seen what I saw, have written. From the life of Saint Symeon the Wonderworker, an account by Arcadius, archbishop of Cyprus, the one hundred thirty-second miracle: And it happened in those days that a certain man of the marketplace of the city of Antioch was held by a terrible affliction by a wicked demon and was distressed for a long time, so that he was being suffocated by it, his breathing passages being constricted. This man, having gone up to the saint and obtained healing through his intercessions and having become as one who had suffered no evil and having returned to his own house, out of thanksgiving set up an icon to him in a public and conspicuous place of the city, above the doors of his workshop. But some of the faithless, seeing it being so honorably glorified with lights and veils, and being filled with zeal, stirred up other disorderly men like them, so that a crowd gathered and cried out in a disorderly manner: "Away with the life of the one who did this, and let the icon be thrown down." Κἀγὼ δὲ ὡς θεασάμενος τὴν αὐτοῦ εἰκόνα, καὶ θεασάμενος, ὃ ἐθεασάμην, ἔγραψα.
