For Wisdom says: “The spirit of discipline will flee deceit, and will remove from thoughts that are without understanding.” 3.11 a spirit of adoption, as Paul first sent to the Romans: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” 3.12 a spirit of promise, according to the same apostle writing to the Ephesians: “in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance,” and to the Galatians: “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’—that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” 3.13 a spirit of faith and of revelation, according to the same one to the Corinthians, declaring in the second epistle: “And since we have the same spirit of faith,” and again: “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.” Therefore, similar to what he declared to the Romans: “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son,” and to what was said by Moses in Deuteronomy: “and you shall know today that the Lord your God, this God is the faithful God,” and to the one who sings in the Psalms: “The Lord is faithful in all His words and holy in all His works.” 3.14 a governing spirit, an upright spirit, according to David confessing in the 50th Psalm: “uphold me with a governing spirit;” likewise to the one who sings in the 32nd Psalm: “for the word of the Lord is upright, and all his works are in faithfulness,” and to Moses saying: “The Lord our God is upright and there is no unrighteousness in him.” 3.15 a spirit of grace, as the apostle writes to the Hebrews: “who has trampled the Son of God underfoot... and insulted the Spirit of grace,” for the same one wrote concerning the Father: “by the grace of God I am what I am
