his day, saying, Let that day perish in which, they said, I was born, and that night in which they said: Behold, a male child. Let that night be darkness, and let not the Lord seek it from above, nor let light come upon it. Let darkness and the shadow of death take it. Let gloom come upon it; let that day and that night be cursed. Let darkness bring it on, let it not be among the days of the year, nor let it be numbered among the days of the months; but let that night be a pain, nor let gladness come upon it, nor joy, but he who curses that day shall curse it, he who is about to master the great sea-monster. Let the stars of that night be darkened, and let it not come to light, let it not see the morning star rising, because it did not shut up the gates of my mother's womb, for it would have delivered me from the trouble of my eyes. Let my enemies be like the destruction of the ungodly, and those who rise up against me like the perdition of the lawless. Darkness shall meet them by day, and they shall grope at noon as in the night. Let them perish in war, let their strength be siphoned away. The whole life of the ungodly is in anxiety; when he thinks he is already at peace, destruction will come upon him. He knows in himself that he abides for a fall. And his day is dark; and necessity and affliction will hold him, like a general, a front-fighter, falling because he raised his hands against God, and was defiant against the Almighty. And let him lodge in deserted cities; and let him enter into uninhabited houses. And what they have harvested, others shall carry away; neither shall he be enriched, nor shall his possessions remain. He shall not cast a shadow on the earth, nor shall he escape the darkness. Let the lawless one wither his shoot, and let his flower fall off. It will turn out empty for him. His vintage shall be destroyed before its time, and his branch shall not be thick. And let him be gathered like an unripe grape before its time; and let him fall off like an olive blossom; for the witness of the ungodly is death. In the womb he will receive pains; it will turn out empty for him, and his belly will bear deceits. The light of the ungodly shall be put out, and their flame shall not go forth. Let the least hunt their possessions. Their foot is cast into a snare, and let it be entangled in a net. Let snares come upon him. And an extraordinary fall is prepared for him. Death shall devour his beautiful things; his comely things shall be scattered with brimstone. From beneath his roots shall be dried up, and from above his harvest shall fall upon him. Let his memory perish from the earth. Let him be thrust from light into darkness, his house shall not be saved under heaven, but others shall live in his things; these are the houses of the unjust, this is the place of those who have not seen the Lord. 95.1192 Judge them, O God; let them fall from their counsels. Let all my enemies be ashamed and troubled. Let them be ashamed and confounded who seek my soul. Have no mercy on all who work iniquity. My God will show me among my enemies; do not kill. Let their table before them become a snare. Pour out your wrath upon them, upon the nations that know you not. My God, make them like a wheel, like stubble before the wind. Fill their faces with dishonor, and they will seek. He did not desire a blessing, and it shall be far from him. Let those who accuse me be clothed with shame. Break the arm of the sinner and the evil man. Let the lawless be ashamed for nothing. Give them, O Lord, a childless womb and dry breasts. There shall be for you dust instead of a sweet smell, and you shall gird yourself with a rope instead of a belt, and instead of a golden head ornament, you shall have baldness because of your works, and instead of a tunic of fine purple, you shall gird yourself with sackcloth. And your fairest son, whom you love, shall fall by the sword, and our mighty men shall fall by the sword, and you shall be left alone, and you shall be leveled to the ground. Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. The Lord will repay him according to his works.
