That this divine name, then, has been glorified from the rising of the sun and its setting among the nations is manifest to everyone from those who are called everywhere by the appellation of Christ; who also in every place offer spiritual incense and the pure and bloodless and rational sacrifice through prayers to God by means of the true high priest; but while these worship in this manner, God says that he will turn away from the bodily sacrifices of the former people; and indeed it is clear how after the coming of Christ the prophecy has received its fulfillment in both respects: both in the rejection of the former people, when at the same time sacrifice and libation were taken away from them according to Daniel, and in the conversion of the nations to the God of all. Of the same. 30. The covenant of life and peace was with him, and I gave it to him that he might fear me with fear, and that he might be in awe of my name. The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found on his lips; in peace, directing, he walked with me, and turned many away from iniquity. For the lips of a priest will guard knowledge, and they will seek the law from his mouth, because he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty. And we have set these things forth, supposing them to be fitting for the testimonies concerning Christ; for the covenant of life 132 and of peace was with him; and the spirit of fear along with the others rested upon him according to that which is said in Isaiah, 'and the spirit of the fear of God shall fill him'; and this, the law of truth, and not the typical one, was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found on his lips; for according to Isaiah, he committed no sin, nor was deceit found on his lips; and since he was with the paternal power, he walked with him in peace, directing, leading many who formerly did not know God to conversion; and from him, since he is a high priest and guards the knowledge of all things, those who care for knowledge concerning him have sought and will seek the divine law; for he is the messenger of great counsel, ministering and proclaiming the Father's will to every creature. Ὅτι χείλη ἱερέως φυλάξεται γνῶσιν, καὶ νόμον ἐκζητήσουσιν ἐκ στόματος αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἄγγελος Κυρίου παντοκράτορός ἐστιν. Καὶ ταῦθ' ἁρμόζειν ὑπολαμβάνοντες ταῖς περὶ Χριστοῦ μαρτυρίαις ἐκτεθείμεθα· ἥ τε γὰρ διαθήκη τῆς ζωῆς 132 καὶ τῆς εἰρήνης ἦν μετ' αὐτοῦ· τό τε τοῦ φόβου πνεῦμα μετὰ καὶ τῶν λοιπῶν ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἀνεπαύσατο κατὰ τὸ, καὶ ἐμπλήσει αὐτὸν πνεῦμα φόβου Θεοῦ, λεγόμενον ἐν Ἠσαίᾳ· τοῦτο δὲ καὶ ὁ τῆς ἀληθείας νόμος, οὐχὶ δὲ ὁ τυπικὸς ἐν τῷ στόματι ἦν, καὶ ἀδικία οὐχ εὑρέθη ἐν χείλεσιν αὐτοῦ· κατὰ γὰρ τὸν Ἠσαίαν ἁμαρτίαν οὐκ ἐποίησεν, οὐδὲ εὑρέθη δόλος ἐν χείλεσιν αὐτοῦ· οἷα δὲ συνὼν τῇ πατρικῇ δυνάμει ἐν εἰρήνῃ κατευθύνων ἐπορεύετο μετ' αὐτοῦ, πολλοὺς τῶν πάλαι τὸν Θεὸν μὴ εἰδότων εἰς ἐπιστροφὴν ἄγων· παρ' αὐτοῦ δὲ, ἅτε ἀρχιερέως ὄντος καὶ τὴν περὶ πάντων γνῶσιν διαφυλάττοντος, τὸν θεῖον νόμον ἐξεζήτησάν τε καὶ ἐκζητήσουσιν, οἷς μέλει τῆς κατ' αὐτὸν ἐπιστήμης· αὐτὸς γάρ ἐστιν ὁ τῆς μεγάλης βουλῆς ἄγγελος, διακονῶν καὶ διαγγέλλων παντὶ γενητῷ τὸ τοῦ Πατρὸς βούλημα.
